Afraid so, we'll get there eventually, I quite liked the Datsun B10 and the NSU in my browsing but matching the backlight alone is a real pest!!

Re: Classic for under £10K
Some huge prices achieved and some even higher hopes dashed on the more exotic stuff.
The Facel Vega with the burn marks for how much?
I had one of those back in the day and struggled to get a couple of hundred quid for it.
The little Bradford van looked interesting, I used to service one, a flat four engine with a Zenith carb on each end, also a much earlier, pre war Jowett van for a north country gentleman Mr Hindle, who brought it in on regular intervals for us to spray petrol into the hole in the top of the bell housing to wash the oil off his clutch.

Re: Classic for under £10K
I noticed in the sales description for the barbecued Facel Vega that they reckoned it was due to a flammable liquid being poured over the bodywork and not an engine fire. Wonder if the reason was in insurance job or a jealous partner

Matthewsons Results posted up at Glenmarch
https://www.glenmarch.com/auctions/results/1102
Have a peruse but to keep the thread visual this one is lot 10...and was sold....for...

I wonder if this fits into the category, everyone remembers them, loads of people used them for work, not many survived the battering and neglect, and so the ones left are more desirable, and a bit of nostalgia bumps the "value" up.

I quite like these, and even in this colour I would give it a second look, lets face it it stands out in interestingness alone in any carpark full of bland modern stuff.
Up for auction SWVA 26th June 2020.

Anglia Car Auctions streamed the entire auction live over two days on Youtube.
Good 7 hours of it here
I think I'll skip a few ahead and see what the Rover P4 went for.

What a gorgeous looking thing, that CX Estate!
Seems of a quite different era, but it effectively overlapped with the XM in 1989, until the XM Estate arrived.
I drove CX Estate, just once - what an experience!

Re: Classic for under £10K
Our local motor bike cop ran one of those Saabs, he was a bit of a nut, said the bike cops had a competition going to see who could ride at over a ton through the Severn Bridge tolls.
The Wolseley 8 reminded me of my younger brother, he bought one of those and drove it without tax or insurance for a couple of months until one day driving like a loon he rolled it at the bricklayers building the new Perry Bar underpass, they got out of the way but he demolished the wall they'd just built.
And the Austin Cambridge, my first car BNP14, bought for a fiver as a non-runner, five quid for an engine a fiver to respray it, on the road for under twenty quid, kept it for two years then sold for £65.
Amazing what people will pay for stuff we chopped up for scrap back in the sixties.
Despite all the gloom about there still seems to be plenty of spare cash floating about in some quarters..

Re: Classic for under £10K
Hats off to anyone who gets that Mick, not much to go on there.
It is MOT and Tax Exempt so it is 40 years old at least so before 1980. Only done 30,000 miles and 3 owners, and only wanting £1,725 for it, so I would guess its an "everyday" classic with not that much of a following.
Its quite a chatty sales notice. 5 New Tyres? Odd to put 5 new tyres on it and then sell it, unless maybe it has been standing around for ages and all the tyres were perished and cracked.
The other clue....you say it has been mentioned recently on whats this then? So I think I'll plump for an Austin Maxi.
It does have this odd little characteristic on the fascia which could be part of the photo. REgards neil
