Re: Picture(s) of the day....
You might like A Tergo Lupi then.
And Nightwish/ Tarja Turunen.
Although that is Floor Jansen, not Tarja.
Or even Loituma:-
Finnish
Or perhaps Kent:-
Swedish.

2mins of Hear me, you had my interest now you have my attention. I`m a big fan of Nightwish as well, in fact I`ve seen them live once though I MUCH prefer Floor over Tarja or Anette who is singing on that one.

I first heard them with Tarja and she seems to belong.

They`ve had a rough time of late, I`m sure you`ve heard of Marco`s departure as well? He`s been on the news a bit for the past six months here over his ADHD diagnose and the solo comeback. Personally just waiting when they get TAROT back together.

Afraid not. I tend to cycle through a lot of different things and it is a while since I delved into Nightwish.
Nearest recently was Tarja with In Temptation.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
anyway for melodic speed/powermetal recommendations with a female front you may have not yet heard about, Amaranthe, Unleash The Archers, Epica, Frozen Crown, Battle Beast. Many of them has done cross collaborations as well, just to name one Sancta Terra with Epica Feat Floor

I have heard of Amaranth, due to the Nightwish song, but not the others. I do gravitate to female musicians mainly though.

You`re in for a treat then. Noora Louhimo is perhaps my most favourite Finnish female singer.

Super technical powermetal with one of the most powerful female fronts Brittney Slayes (Hayes)

Sorry for flooding this thread this is the last one I promise, IMO pretty much the Magnum Opus of Nightwish so far with Floor Jansen and Richard Dawkins, a twenty minute musical masterpiece about all of existence.

No need for apology Matt, it just flowed on from your guitar pic The FCF usually has a thread for virtually everything and has a long established thread called "The Pickled Egg Jukebox" which has assembled the most eclectic collection of music of all genres you could imagine, and always welcomes new selections.Oddball Matt wrote: ↑24 Nov 2023, 00:49

If you have the power Steve maybe you could move the conversation to the Pickled Egg Jukebox thread for the posts after my reply to Matt with the pic of the Ibanez guitar...nicked from an old post by Zel.

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
It is a bit long and wandering but is a new window on Lola.
She gets lots of stick for her appearance and many can't see past that and hear how accomplished a musician she is, a bit like Yuja Wang.
She touches on Gershwin here and there is an excellent video of her playing with a full orchestra. Dressed down somewhat for this one.
If her detractors saw this first I'm sure that they would hold her in higher regard.
She is Russian (Tashkent, Uzbekistan) but has lived in the US since she was 17. (31 now).
She is a fashion follower and has done modelling which many seem to think makes her less of a musician.
Always plays in very high heels, an accomplishment in itself.

Yuja Wang playing the same piece. Different but every bit as good. A child prodigy.
Vilified and denigrated for her choice of clothing, the same as Lola.
