With a nod to Neil's mention of Lea Salonga.

There is a contralto recording of this that is fabulous. Unfortunately haven't been able to track it down, this is pretty good though.

Having a musical interlude, this is a great version:

Brace yourselves to absorb a bit of trivia and the link between a Monty Python Sketch and this 1980 Classic with just a whiff of "Dont fear the Reaper" about it. Doesn't take much working out.

Is Vic there? viewtopic.php?p=764730#p764730

Not Asa though most think it is.

I like this better though, I find it far more sad than the above movement.

Per Gynt done her wrong.

somewhat less gloomy:

Peer Gynt was the first LP I bought, I was 13 and dad had bought a 'stereogram'.
Our deputy head always played classical music for the Thursday assembly. I only ever attended on a Thursday, skived off the rest of the week.

This one's properly got to me... Absolutely love it :D It's unusual a song has such a profound effect on me that I immediately add it to my 'Top Faves' playlist and upload it to my Garmin running watch...

Beware, this is the explicit version and has a few occurrences of naughty words in the lyrics...

There's more strings to Paul Hardcastle's bow than his classic "19"

Never really listened to the lyrics before, from the lyrics I'm assuming she was a Citroen owner....
