Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
One of his best albums too, just like all the others.
I think I like "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" best, for a rather convolute reason.
I was missing a former girlfriend. There was a series showing on TV, Cimmaron Strip, and the girl in it looked like her. The album has a track:-
And only made me think of her more.
I couldn't go through with my incipient wedding, phoned the girl and we were married four days later.
Two weeks before the other wedding should have taken place.
Not my shining hour and there were many regrets but it was the right thing to do.
And she was a Neil Young fan too.
I feel a Neil Young session about to start.

I have not seen him live but my eldest son has and said that he was the most energetic and charismatic musician he has ever seen, and he gets to a lot of good shows.

Have to say that this is a stand out one for me, but my wife couldn't listen to it.
She couldn't stand birds, feathers freaked her out, as did anything with fur on it.
Fortunately she was OK with reptiles, the kids filled the house with snakes and lizards - big spiders too.

I've seen him live, but just like a lot of bands I've seen live, I can only just remember the fact I've seen him live. Not for any nefarious reasons, mind you - it's just it all blurs into one. I can remember seeing Sneaker Pimps play live - but only because they made my chest cavity resonate. I can remember Kraftwerk from a few years ago - but mainly because one of the young whippersnappers next to me in the crowd commented: 'This lot aren't bad. Are they a new group ?'myglaren wrote: 15 Apr 2023, 22:10

That's quite spooky Steve, my ex wife had a similar reaction to this track which I like:
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

I haven't seen a great many but all have been very good and very memorable.
The only crap one was John Cale.
Leonard Cohen and Heather Nova were fantastic and far exceeded my expectations.

Unlike the majority of his music, that doesn't 'gel' with me but I don't see anything offensive in it.mickthemaverick wrote: 15 Apr 2023, 22:42 That's quite spooky Steve, my ex wife had a similar reaction to this track which I like:
I did wonder if his voice might grate on you although it isn't as high pitched as many of the female artists that I usually prefer.
This is an absolute classic.

A bit of a diversion, this is so surreal. As is much of her work.
Patti was outstanding live too.

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
I've seen a fair number of the big solo acts, although obviously with backing, and by far the most enthralling show was Paul McCartney who stayed on stage from 7.35 to 11.20 unbroken. When the group members took breaks he came and sat on the front of the stage and did a couple of ukelele numbers the first time and then a couple of solo piano pieces during their second break. He was awesome!! Elton John at Leeds Castle was good but went into his own world jamming while the crowd's interval was on. At Wembley Stadium he held the stage alone as Billy Joel had cried off with illness at the last minute but I found the acoustics were terrible.
Rod Stewart was close to the top of the energy stakes until I was lucky enough to see Aerosmith and Mr Tyler was incredible!! David Coverdale in Whitesnake was probably my most forgettable gig!!

Not seen any of those but have seen Tinariwen a couple of times and they stay on stage for the full show, odd members wander off for a break but the rest carry on.
Fabulous!

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
Very clever but not my choice in music. There is only one MJ song I can tolerate and that is more for whatshisname's guitar rather than anything MJ has to do with it.
