Part of the Pickled Egg Jukebox is not just inflicting the FCF Audience with your own personal taste and hoping for a conversion or two along the way, although that is/was one of the joys of real jukeboxes! How cool was it of me to put on the non obvious track "Benny and the Jets" on the jukebox in a tiny station cafe/restroom at York Station all those years ago. The assembled unresponsive uninterested throng of bored rail passengers just had to sit through it and lump it!

No occasionally you hear something and you think I wonder who that was.

There was a song came on at the end of "Ambulance" aired last night. Fitted well with the programme. It's ancient stuff season 6 episode 1 first aired in 2020 but being regurgitated now. The lyrics were quite simple and plain to hear and were what led me to an identification via songlyrics.com because I couldn't find any acknowledgement at all on the credits or the BBC/Wiki info about the episode.

This was it...heartbreak song...positive message...both...:?: The interpretation is in the ear of the listener.

We often used to call in at a café in Thornton-Le-Dale and one afternoon repeatedly played Carl Denver's "Wimoweh" repeatedly. I'm sure that the other patrons we appreciative.

Ahem, Karl Denver.

I too remember Wimoweh. I was only 9 and it was a favourite of mine, trying to yodel along. I was very sad when I heard that one of his children had died.

Finished off watching the film Dark Waters today about the legal battle with DuPont with respect to PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid), used to manufacture Teflon, used in American homes for nonstick frying pans and carpet flooring, and its toxicity.

At the end up popped this very appropriate song, performed by Johnny Cash in his later years from the album American III: Solitary Man released in 2000. The track written by Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty plays and provides some vocals on the track.

Was listening to this, over and over to try and recall what it sounded like.

Almost had it as a question, then remembered.

I have just caught (on Sky Arts) a program about Kate Bush and her work. When she and her team were developing the concepts behind "Cloudbusting" they hit upon Donald Sutherland as the father in the video. When they approached his agent the response was that he was too busy. Well, a friend of one of the team knew a friend of Donald, and the upshot was that he was able to give them three days of his time between shooting two films.

What happens when two legends collide? If they are a tune and a musician this is a pretty good answer!! :-D
