Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
I was alerted to this on the BBC Breakfast programme this morning and I think it's well worth sharing.
RIP Jeff.

Brian May considers this the greatest piece of guitar music ever recorded, and I'm not going to argue with him!!

You're living dangerously by posting that

I must get me some Vangelis to listen to on the stereo - he did some great stuff and I've not got any of it as far as I know.

I'll file that under...... 'unusual'.

What would be a British equivalent ?

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
I can email some to you if you like, or you can cheat as I do and download it from Youtube with
I bought most of mine from eBay (Music Magpie, mostly).
Which is a Linux thing but there will be equivalents for other platforms if this isn't available outside Linux.
First heard that in "The Year Of Living Dangerously" and it took years to track down as the music was listed as being by Maurice Jarre. Which it was, apart from this track.
That film also bought recently from Music Magpie and one of the most expensive DVDs I have bought.
And if you like Vangelis, you may also like Jean-Michel Jarre, Maurice's son. Try 'Oxygene' on YouTube.
And of course the soundtrack to "Blade Runner"
A British equivalent? Not a clue.
Dead now but he was a revered singer and interpreter* of Bellman's poetry, much of it, as here, rather bawdy.
He was Dutch and moved to Sweden when about 12 and learned Swedish in a few months, had great command and feeling for the language.
I have this on a "Spring Mot Ulla, Spring"* tape that I can no longer play but can use YouTube now instead. *Not sure that 'interpreter is the right word as he is singing the original Swedish words, but does it rather better than anyone else.
*"Run Towards/for Ulla, Run".

Re: Pickled Egg Jukebox-Your Selections
Between my posting and yours, I decided to splash out on an extravagent purchase of a 'best of' CD for under £2.50 inc. delivery. I now know I've got some of his on vinyl, but a quick check on the CD collection showed I was sadly lacking - now rectified
I'm sure it will sound splendid on the stereo
