Pickled Egg Jukebox-Charles Special

Unread post by NewcastleFalcon »

Today's theme
For the 10th of September 2022, expiring at Midnight tonight a Pickled Egg Jukebox Special. Not a quickfire get in quick thing, at your leisure see if you can come up with some interesting-themed tracks in honour of Charles III based on the name
Charles
also allowable without being too pedantic are the various incarnations of the name across the world eg Carol/Karl/Carlos/Carlo/Charlie/Chas/Chuck/ etc etc. Feminine derivatives also Charlene, Charlotte, Carly, Carole etc Titles/Artists/within lyrics anything goes, no curating or moderating from me
Let's have a think...

Charles Trenet with a French classic

Charles Trenet with another French Classic...well its not Charles but it is the song he wrote and made famous but This is a far better version...one step removed from our Charles theme but it is written by Charles Trenet. Tatiana Eva-Marie & Avalon Jazz Band have some good youtube vids...nice on autoplay

and the theme for today is Charles in all its forms male/female including Chas. Plenty scope artist/lyrics/song titles.

Well step forward Chas and Dave...

My first introduction to the talents of Chas and Dave...nice song, like it.

Hard to believe you've not come across Chas & Dave before Neil - Snooker Loopy? :?:

Meanwhile one step removed from Charles we have the House of Windsor: :-D

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

I have an obscure Blue Nile track where Rickie Lee Jones does the vocals on a very bare version of Easter Parade. You can almost hear the dust falling in the recording studio it's so sparse. Magical. :)

That was the track I heard first from them, they were on the car radio doing a concert in the early 1970's I would think. Haven't just discovered them today :-D

Most people who know the song 'Ai No Corrida' will think of Quincy Jones who made it well known. It's actually by Chaz Jankel - he of Ian Dury and the Blockheads fame. It's a funny old world.

This was originally recorded by Destiny's Child for the Charlie's Angels film. I think this version by Elbow is infinitely better

The Robots by Kraftwerk, written by Ralf Hütter, Florian Schneider, & Karl Bartos.

Not to be confused with 'Built by Roberts'....... "You got a torque wrench, Bob ?" "Nah, try Bob over there" "Have you got it Bob ?" "No, I think Bob's got it" :-D Not The 9 O'clock News
