Missed out on the theme tonight, but have selected at random the 7th letter of the Alphabet to come up with a song with a real placename in the title. The letter G, the place Galway.

Not the tune I suspect that the NYPD Choir were reported as singing in the Christmas favourite "Fairytale of New York" ( more likely to be the Bing Crosby effort (different song, same title) from the film "A Quiet Man" if indeed the NYPD had a choir, and they sang Galway Bay)

Your abscence was noted earlier Neil!! Coincidentally between my divorce and meeting SWMBO I had a girlfriend named Dolores Keane with thick long red hair and a typically Irish glint in her eyes! She was great fun to be with but 13 years younger than me and not long term material so we split and remained friends until she left the country to work in Dubai!! Not heard a word since, which is probably just as well! :-D

This might suit those who like 'noisy' stuff. :) Sausalito summer nights.

Often catch Jo Whiley's Thursday theme on the Car radio....Funfairs this week.

Was singing along to this in the car last night, never heard it for ages. That's part of the idea of the Pickled Egg Jukebox, those tracks you hear at random and enjoy/ stir up memories get them posted up when they surface in the course of your day. Cant imagine Barry has a great following on the FCF, nice tune though.

Johnnie Walker has an excellent show on Sunday afternoons kicked off yesterday with this pair. Detroit Spinners followed by Argent. Enjoyed a sing-a-long to the first, and just turned the second one up. Two from the "haven't heard them for ages" stable. :-D

Rod Argent, with Colin Blunstone, is still touring as The Zombies - or at least was prior to the pandemic and death of bassist Jim Rodford. Anyway, the point is that they do a great live version of this song even without Russ Ballard. They also do God Gave Rock and Roll to You, another Argent (band) song.

Well I don't need a second poke to post this. There's a few seconds of the great Old Grey Whistle Test theme tune at the beginning.

Just because I feel like it and as a tribute to the wonderfully eccentric late Dave Greenfield please enjoy this track heavily featuring his keyboards. Many will remember this as the theme tune to Keith Floyd's food trips.

This is a video I've not seen before and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

I have been reminded of a classic track with a spoken intro which we missed the other day

The Pickled Egg Jukebox has accumulated an eclectic collection of different themes over the years, from Morse code Songs, to laid back Soundz, to songs based on locations on the Monopoly Board, to South American Songs, to songs based on the original signatories to the American declaration of independance etc etc.

It also did "Truckin' Songs" which is a surprisingly enjoyable little niche in the Country music firmament. Used to be 10 trucking songs in the playlist, now nine. Kicks off with the excellent Junior Brown and "Highway Patrol"

Give it a listen, nice lively start and he is a whizz on the guitar.

Have that, never listen to it.
One from a couple of days ago reminded me of this. Same artist, different 'song'.
Only one of this genre I can tolerate. Have the CD.

It was probably the presence of Ms Pfeiffer that made the difference.
