Does music create an ambience and an atmosphere, stir memories, take you to a place different from your own armchair and living room.....you may end up in a bar in New York with this one.....

My father used to reckon that Al Bowlly had a great voice. He (Al Bowlly, not my father) appeared on the sound track of the Dennis Potter series Pennies from Heaven. Unfortunately he died at a young age during a bombing strike in 1941.

For anyone who likes the upright bass.
There are some other interesting bits too. Shame her Bhodran isn't properly amped.
Lovely accent and cheeky laugh.

I'm the opposite, I found a lot of the rockabilly stuff to be quite 'manufactured' while her recent material seems more sincere.quintet wrote: 23 Jan 2021, 19:49 ^ I really liked Imelda May but couldn't get into her newer music, i preferred the old rockabilly Imelda May.
Just heard this on another forum. I had heard the name Blue Suede but paid little mind and didn't realise that they were so big, especially in Sweden when I lived there - or that they were Swedish

Rockbox are a band I've only seen once. It was some eight years ago when I went to a Deep Purple concert and the lights went down for the support band. Now, normally the support band are just tolerated and may, if they're lucky (and good enough), get enough of your attention to applaud a few of their offerings.
This lot came on stage and had everyone entranced from the first to the last. Literally a street band carrying all needed (including electric guitar amp) to play their covers. Obviously influenced visually by AC/DC, they did it with such aplomb we were all talking about them after they left the stage - and how often does that happen?
It's a bit difficult finding correct hits on YouTube among all the other offerings but I've found a couple. They have a different front man singing here compared to when I saw them.
These are both ZZ Top songs but they do other bands as well. When I saw them they did a particularly good rendition of Sergeant Pepper and Sergeant Pepper reprise.

Ha, found it! This is Rockbox with Sergeant Pepper. Note what they do at about the three minute mark sliding into the reprise.
