Yes, I do have the CD.
My mother was Welsh, the only connection.

Which reminds me of Harry Secombe
Who my mother loved to hear sing but despised his silly laugh.
She would sing the same songs as him, mostly in Welsh unless she was making up the words as she went along.

Re: P.E.Jukebox-your selections please
For about the first time in a year I had an opportunity to mess around on the organ a bit this evening - and discovered that yet another felt pad has come off the bass pedals. When I can next get access to it they're all getting glued back in as this is the third one it's happened to and it's a back breaking job to tip it forward to get access...and even worse trying to get it upright again without dropping it.
I stumbled across a chord progression which sounded massively familiar...but it took me a full hour to figure where from... especially as I've absolutely zero idea what I'm doing. I can just occasionally noodle around making vaguely tuneful noises.
Eventually figured out it was this that I'd reminded myself of. I'm pointing to a cover on YouTube as I personally prefer it to the original!
Still wish the intro was shorter...I always skip about the first minute!
I'd give a lot to have even a quarter of that skill!
If like me, you like the sound of an organ and think it's a crying shame that most of the big ones in churches are so rarely let rip...this is worth a look.
I would pay very good money to hear him play that live!

P.E. Jukebox-your selections please
The organ has made an outing on the Pickled egg jukebox recently with the US national Anthem both on huge pipe organs and on the mouth organ. JUst put "organ" into a search and pulled out this post list there are more of course. I personally regard the theme music of the old "World in Action" which the search pulled out a tremendous piece of organ music but for the selection from the archives I've gone for this....
Regards NeilNewcastleFalcon wrote: 29 May 2017, 23:00 ..and have a go at this one which autoplayed on from Neil Schon etc.
Its a cover of Deep Purple's "Lazy" from Machine Head by a group of very talented musicians including vocalist Jimmy Barnes & Joe Bonamassa on guitar, and a Hammond organ given a decent workout. Excellent stuff makes you want to check out the original.

Here it is, I enjoyed it hope you do tooMore bands and artists these days should allow their keyboard players to go nuts more often. This guy is FIRE. Hell, what even happened to all the keyboard players these days? There's reason why most modern rock music sound so flat, generic, and dry - lack of keyboards. Look at the greatest - Pink Floyd, Deep Purple etc. There's always that one guy hiding behind three layers of keys, creating full dimensional landscape that allows music to breathe.?

What a great way to start the day!! Thanks Zel and Neil although I have to say it was Joe's guitar that impressed me the most!

Re: P.E.Jukebox-your selections please
I was never a fan of organ music - not Hammond-type organs anyway.
Then heard this, while trying to get out of Gothenburg in the dark and during a storm, not knowing the way at all.
It came on the radio and I was fascinated, liked it so much I never even noticed the organ.
That organ has been a feature of The Savage Rose since their inception in 1967 and is still with them.
The voice of Anisette is quite unique. A Danish citizen, she is of Inuit extraction.
That organ is prominently featured throughout their Dødens Triumf (Triumph Of Death) album.

Zel, if you ever are in the Winchester area you might want to call into the Cathedral and have a look at the pipe organ. It was featured on Michael Portello's' Great British Rail Journeys, and is an impressive edifice.

Loved Suzanne Vega back then. Always seemed like 'black & white' music, like Allanah Miles, Patti Smith and Rosie Vela.
Saw the Manics mentioned on the news, no idea they were still around. Reminded me that I liked
Which doesn't sound quite the same anymore. Seems rather shouty here.

Re: P.E.Jukebox-your selections please
Paul Harvey is a former music teacher, and is now afflicted with dementia. One of his skills (which he still retains) is the ability to improvise a tune from any four random notes (when he taught he would do this to help inspire his pupils). Recently a YouTube video of this (when his son called out four notes to work with) went viral; then it went MUCH bigger. The BBC Breakfast got to hear of this, and then the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra got involved. This is what was shown this morning on BBC Breakfast;
