Re: P.E.Jukebox-your selections please
I know my musical tastes are a bit odd compared to some folks, but a running theme through a huge portion of the likes which get a lot of play time in my library irrespective of style is that I love songs which paint pictures. Won't be a surprise that Al Stewart pops up frequently then.
The vast majority of my listening these days is through Spotify as I rarely get time to sit down to actually listen to music on the stereo in the lounge. However it has the advantage of essentially meaning that I've always got my entire media library and more in my pocket, wherever I happen to be. One of my favourite features of Spotify is the Discover Weekly playlist. This is a roughly full album length playlist of random tracks that it doesn't have a record of you having played before that it thinks you will like based on your history. It's actually pretty accurate I find, and obviously the more you listen the better idea it gets of what it thinks you will like. There is some utter tripe suggested sometimes too, but it's quick enough to tag those as disliked. I'm sure it throws in the odd left-field choice intentionally too to see what you think. I've found more new artists and songs I'd never heard even among artists I've followed for decades in the last couple of years I think than in the last 20 years thanks to this.
One which turned up this morning which immediately got the reaction of me stopping what I was doing and listening to it, then adding to a playlist I've got saved which is titled "Close Your Eyes and Listen..." was this.
Or on what appears to be their channel on YouTube:
Some of the lyrics in there really speak to me. In particular "What you call home, is a box of memories, forever lost, but good enough to keep, 'cause you don't know, what tomorrow holds for you..."
I'm a sucker for big choral stuff a lot of the time too.
Another track which popped up a couple of months ago that I've kept going back to is this one...
Or on their YouTube Channel here:
Oh, if you wondered where the lead guitarist from Deep Purple had got to, that's what they're up to these days! Small world...
Last one for now as a track which has been a favourite of mine for a couple of years now since I first heard it. The original is by Trevor Morris, and this is actually from the soundtrack to the game Dragon Age: Inquisition - but utterly aside from any connection to the game it's a powerful track anyway - and some of the imagery feels somewhat more relevant in the last year or two than it might have otherwise.
My favourite version is actually a cover by an artist called Peter Hollens - but this one has a bit of a twist in that they actually have what's essentially a 500+ strong chorus singing this from his followers on Patreon. Enough of my waffling, here's the link:

Apologies for this but as it is her 20th birthday today there should be some recognition.

Try this, might be fitting for the current health problems.
I saw this couple at the Colston Hall in Bristol and have their LP in my pile.

Given our tendency towards DIY on Bank Holidays I thought a little warning wouldn't go amiss, plus I think this chap has made a good job of fitting the pictures to the song:

^ Just been reading that there has been a dramatic increase in DIY injuries reported.
Nothing to do with Easter or self-inflicted injuries.
Just having a bit of a Greek session, this is one of may favourites, Eleftheria Arvanitaki.
I love the change of pace halfway through this, And the licorice stick of course.

Re: P.E.Jukebox-your selections please
This is a strange one. I have been listening to Eleftheria for years but only just saw this one.
The first half is the odd bit. The bloke is a drummer in her band, a Turk called Arturo somethingunpronouncable. After the weird bit it segues into her signature song, written by Ara Dinkjan - also in the band, plays the Cümbü?* mainly.
Where Arturo makes a significant if unusual contribution.
Cümbü?:
I have seen him playing it on many occasions but had no idea what it was . A relatively recent Turkish instrument.

Well displayed here
The depth of this music surprises me. Can't decide if it is the instruments or the recording - I am playing it through a decent stereo amp & speakers.
