I have to have an early night to prepare me for a "Lexia" morning so here is the background to my favourite Irish Song followed by my personal favourite rendition of it from, IMHO, the best male singer of my childhood: :) :)

The car radio the other day played the track "an Innocent Man" by Billy Joel. Now Billy's all right but the intro which the presenter was babbling over had the distinct feel of Rikki Don't Lose the Number by Steely Dan. Of course in turn the intro to Steely Dan's Rikki Dont Lose that Number is a bit of a cull from this...

Of course Becker and Fagan did their thing with it, and had the good sense to let the Moustachioed Jeff "Skunk" Baxter loose with his guitar. So with a less than Fagenesque singer (not that Fagen is a good singer but his singing is part of the flavour of Steely Dan) I have chosen a live version with Skunk doing his stuff

Such a contrast on Chasing Classic Cars between Gooding and Company's Scottsdale Auction conducted by Charlie Ross, him of antiques roadtrip fame, and the typical US auctioneer this morning who did his best to pay tribute to Leroy Van Dyke......

You will have heard it

I can hear a similarity, which may well have been deliberate, when the bass comes in on Roy Budd's Carter takes a train" (Get Carter theme), to the intro of "We gotta get out of this place"

Further eclecticism on the Pickled Egg Jukebox. I posted up a pleated rear bench seat in "Tan PVC" on POTD recently. The car in question was a Lincoln Green Range Rover......

So 2 Robin Hood "tracks"

A bit more recent Eric Burdon, With Georgia Dagaki. An unusual pairing.
