Re: P.E.Jukebox your selections please
Eldest grandaughter - 20 last week - is leaving home, going to rent a house with a couple of other girls.
Only seems yesterday that her mother left our home to live with son in law.
SIL is quietly devastated, it has come too soon for him, still his little girl (except she's 6' 2").
Comes to mind.

Re: P.E.Jukebox your selections please
Nice one Mick!
I took her birthday presents down today - she was rarely home anyway.
Actually set off then had to come back as I forgot to put them in the car.
When I got home I found a little t-shirt on the car seat I had meant to give her - hers from when she was two months old, found in my attic last week.

Yes Pointless was on before the news, and the final category was classic albums from the 70's. So I'll dig a suitable track out.
Blondie Parallel Lines
Led Zeppelin Physical Grafitti
Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street
Who knew, this is the original Hanging on the Telephone

....I am told by wiki that a section of this was used for Kevin's slot on "a kick up the eighties"
Kevin Turvey Investigates
Not sure is Sibelius has debuted on the PE Jukebox, but I do think somewhere in the Pickled Egg Pages the theme for "This Week" made an apperance, which is also from the plume kynä of Jean Sibelius.

Reviving this from the archives. Came on the car radio, and as ever just stopped me in my tracks. If there is a more seductive song l haven’t heard it.

Dont like the video though

For me this was the great seductive song, a couple of years after my divorce I was sent this track from a girl I had known for 10 years but never really got to know!! It certainly seduced me into 12 months of fun and adventure until we broke up!!:NewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑07 Nov 2019, 18:12 Reviving this from the archives. Re: P.E.Jukebox your selections please
I did think of that after I had posted it - it regularly turns up on YouTube.
Re: The Chelsea song - I was very disappointed to find that Sunderland use Prokofiev's "Romeo & Juliet - Capulet's and Montagues" as their theme.
The Elton one seems familiar. I only listen to "Blue Moves" normally, the only LP I have of his.

A well chosen trilogy of Elton's work there Steve. Demonstrates his voice, his musicianship and his ability to perform in moods suited to the song. The track I put up possibly seemed familiar because it was the "B" side to his most exalted work of all:

Haven't got that one Mick. Have heard it on the radio, before I gave up listening to radio.

Imagine the scene. York Station cafe/waiting room on the platform, late 70's. Probably a 10p piece in my hand, and a jukebox in the corner. Now you cant go and put something obvious on the jukebox, totally uncool. You want to inflict something on the other uninterested occupants of the room whether they like it or not.
So scanning down the list which in traditional juke box style of the time would include B sides to every single in the machine, I chose and still remember to this day the B side of Candle in the Wind and it was.....
Maybe there were different versions with different B sides. There were as I have now discovered and your "Something about the way you look tonight" was indeed as you said the B (or Double A) side of the 1997 Version. (not available on the York Station jukebox in the 1970's

Re: P.E.Jukebox your selections please
Indeed it was Neil to the original record, but I posted the rewrite for Princess Diana's funeral and the "B" side was as I said, although some sources have it listed as a double "A" side. In fact I seem to remember it was a 3 track record, almost an EP, with another short song, You Can Make History, making up the "B" side, though the panel to the right of the following link suggests a slightly different arrangement!!

and to complete the set:
Either way it was one hell of a performance under the circumstances!!
