Time for a tune anyone.............set a theme...make a selection....inflict the rest of us with your musical taste.....

After you.....

Regards Neil

PS found out today that the precursors of ABBA and euro pop/bubblegum the band "Middle of the Road" and their distinctive frontlady Sally Carr were from Glasgow. A greater contrast could not be found than with fellow Glaswegians The Alex Harvey Band posted up recently by yours truly. Stranger than that I like them both!

How about some music for sport or sports programmes? I'll set the ball rolling (cunning pun there :-D ) with the classic theme from Grandstand:

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

This was a nice find Mick. I like a bit of tradition and I have a feeling they still use it today on 5 live.

"This is Out Of The Blue, by Hubert bath, it has been used for the BBC Sports report radio programme for many years, This is a re-recording by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra."

I'll have to see if I can find the "Horse of the Year" show theme. Not that I am a huge fan of showjumping, but it is reminiscent of a time of year, when the BBC used to devote a fair bit of air time in the evening to covering it, and riders like David Broome/Harvey Smith/Ted Moult/ Marion Coakes (with Stroller) even Captain Raimondo D'Inzeo in his uniform were well known sports personalities. Yes and Harvey Smith sticking the "V"'s up at the judges all added to the spice, and made the front pages!

Regards Neil

PS form Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart....."A Musical Joke"

I avoid any kind of sport so am out of the loop, other than The Chain by Fleetwood Mac, and the following, also by Mr Mozart.

The album was sent to me years ago (50+) by my Swedish girlfriend. It is used in the film Elvira Madigan, watched in the cinema in Sweden and been in my Amazon basket for far too long now.

I recall it being used extensively in dressage, maybe still is.

Piano concerto #21.

Full concerto.

This is interesting, autoplayed on from that "Out of The Blue"

The Danish National Symphony Orchestra are excellent. Great to see how they reproduced the sounds from the fantastic theme to the good the bad and the ugly...brilliant. and on they played to a Fistful of Dollars,,just as good.

^ Conducted by Sarah Hicks - she has worked extensively with the Danish orchestras. Mostly as here with film themes.

First saw here here in St Petersburg, prestigious concert. She took a lot of flack for not being in the 'appropriate' penguin suit.

You are missing out Steve but in sympathy with STMBO!! :-D
The Mozart is also used in the Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me, where Bond (Roger Moore) exits Stromberg's (Curt Jurgens) undersea laboratory and on pressing a button the wall blinds lift to reveal extensive aquarium views!! That scene has always struck me as an unexpected interlude of serenity within the usual excitement of a Bond movie. :)
