I had a friend listening to Maxwell's Silver Hammer on a posh American stereo, through headphones, pretty stoned and leapt up in terror as Maxwell seemed to pop up behind him with the hammer.
This of course is a later work but illustrates how they developed their music to make the most of stereo. I happen to be lucky enough to have a signed copy of Abbey Road on my wall upstairs so I feel a pic in POTD is coming on! :)

^^^Genius in simplicity. Never knowingly come across it before thanks for posting Steve. When it starts I was thinking when is it going to liven up, but I gave it the full play and thought that is just a brilliant simple piece of music, deep gentle and soothing.

I have to echo Neil's comments there Steve, a beautiful melodic interlude with such a simple structure and it would calm anyone's evening. Thanks!! :)

Just to destroy the calm a little a couple of "recognisable riffs"

And how about linking "recognisable riffs" with calming music with a burst of the "forbidden riff":

Rocks my boat every time :)
