"Midnight" has appeared in so many song titles.....not sure if Buddy Holly has made an appearance at the PE yet but he's one of the many with Midnight in one of his songs...

Re: The Pickled Egg Jukebox-Track of the Day
Like that one Steve, but can't quite work out why the Drive by Truckers Southern Rock Opera album cover is shown
The track isn't even on the album, and was an Allman brothers original back in 1970.
Wonder if Fleetwood Mac had a bit of a listen to it before creating Rumours.? The track has a bit of that kind of feel to it.
regards Neil

How about this for a novelty.
ABBA do Leadbelly!
Harry Belafonte does Leadbelly (with Bob Dylans first appearance as a session musician on Harmonica)
and just for good measure Leadbelly does Leadbelly

Re: The Pickled Egg Jukebox-Track of the Day
Not that great a crop from Radio Listening today.
I'll stop short of lobbing it into Room 101, but I do find mildly irritating, the sometimes over the top reaction from listeners on text, and the assembled throng of radio presenters etc when live performances are done in the "Live Lounge" or on Elton John's Piano etc.
Not once have I heard anyone say...that was awful! Except me of course in the privacy of my own vehicle!
The Cover version, which is often simply singing the original more slowly together with totally unnecessary embellishments, very rarely gets the wow factor from me.
Talking about the wow factor haven't heard this for a while and it was played today......Wow Wow Wow Wow Wow....unbelievable!
True this time thanks Kate
Regards Neil

Re: The Pickled Egg Jukebox-Track of the Day
My autoplaying tonight on from Kate doing Wow! went through a nice selection of her songs, then her duet with Peter Gabriel, onto Peter Gabriel doing Biko, and then landed on this.....
David Bowie enjoying himself, and I did notice the rather old fashioned picking out of his name in lights in the background......loved this observation from Tomas in the comments
Enjoyed it
Regards Neil

Nice and sarcastic......classy and effortless performance from David and the bandObviously bad concert. No big laser show and nobody is using mobile phones and nobody in their underwear shaking butts?? Terrible..
Enjoyed it

Re: The Pickled Egg Jukebox-Track of the Day
As one of the comments noted Mark Knopfler could do a pretty decent cover of that one both in the vocals and with his guitar work. The unexpected sound explosion at 4.48 is also creative quality stuff!

When I bought the "Freedom" CD and listened with headphones that track was epic - especially the castanets the seemed to be right in my head.
Verushka, just seen that!
