Re: The Pickled Egg-your virtual local
Anyone heard of "Cake"....me neither but what's not to like...sarcastic lyrics, monotone vocals, trumpet instead of a lead guitar, wide ranging musical influences.
Well if you can't stand them, at least the accompanying montage of Emma Peel, may bring back some memories
Regards Neil

Re: The Pickled Egg-your virtual local
Watched the documentary on Glen Campbell the other night, didn't realise he was such a good guitarist, and played on countless other hits , and even joined the beach boys fopr a breif period. So I'll put up a pair from Glen, for me and many others Whicita Lineman is an absolutley brilliantly constructed and performed song, and his gentle Adios a fitting finale.

Track of the Day
Yes the radio churns out lots of instantly forgettable stuff on a daily basis but today's
Track of the Day
for me....The Average White Band probably not your first guess if you heard the track part way through...yes it has a bit disco in it, but sounds like one of the motown classics at the same time...
Regards Neil

Re: The Pickled Egg-Track of the Day
Anyone see the Alice Cooper Glen Campbell tribute? Unexpected? for sure! Surreal? bordering on - but then Alice has long been a paradox.

Yes watched it on you tube...never knew they were so close friends, and again a great respect for him as a guitar player too.

Not an Alice Cooper fan but was pleased to see that he 'adopted' Orianthi when Michael Jackson died and left her hanging.
Prefer him in interviews, an astute and entertaining speaker.

I can well imagine much moaning at that list. Although I can't quite get used to her, Ana Popovitch a glaring omission.
Orianthi was teriffic a few years back but seems to have lost her way since Michael Jackson.

Re: The Pickled Egg-Track of the Day
I know that these are different, but I enjoyed them. The artwork for this version of Radiohead's "Creep" was unofficial, but when the record label wanted to take it down the group said "No", as they appreciated the level of work that went into it. The Nizlopi "JCB Song" was created officially for the group by the same man.

Re: The Pickled Egg-Track of the Day
Gave it a go James, clever animation, but not keen on the song or indeed the animation interpretation of the song. Have to put it in the category not to my taste, but other PE punters may think differently.
It has been Elvis day today on the radio. He did accompany us on a long drive to the Alps one summer. His powerhouse one for me is American Trilogy. But seeing as I am a Steely Dan fan Track of the Day is FM. Reflects what the radio was like today.
"Nothing but blues and Elvis and somebody else's favourite song" (not that mainstream radio plays much blues now!)
Regards Neil
