I learnt to drive in one of those - the A40 that is. Don't know how that was a 'A' reg ours was a '54 don't think they made them past '56 the the A50 came out.

It is a 54 on the DVLA record Peter, in spite of the numberplate.

The original reg number has been transferred/lapsed and an "appropriate" replacement issued by DVLA - hence the A reg as that is as far back as the DVLA will go datewise in this particular reg transfer/ re registration.
There has probably been an issue over authenticating the original date of manufacture.

Yes noticed that Peter, shove a link up with a post on the classics under £10K thread here ( viewtopic.php?p=740509#p740509 ) Its a bit of an arbitrary limit and if I had the power still to change thread titles I would drop the limit altogether.

Neil, done that, not sure i've done it correctly but it's now in Classics for under 10k.
I did notice there is a 2 tone J2 camper van on there as well, went from Scampton to the Isle of Skye (and the Scottish Highlands) mountain climbing in a normal J2 in my youth.

I saw a Morris Minor yesterday - in 2 tone 2CV Dolly 'Rhubarb & Custard' colours (well actually Custard and Rhubarb, since the body was red and the wings cream!). Very striking!

Richard spotted this as posted on the classics thread. Thought I might be able to find a 2-tone image from the net of the Custard and Rhubarb...best I could do was this from a sale in New Hampshire, USA...maybe Minor owners are a bit conservative and Richard's spot of a two-tone was indeed a rarity.
