Re: A nice 2-tone
I've just come across these two pics of two of my previously owned 2-tones:
Both served me well and the Shogun was my test bed for my veggie oil conversion which I later transferred to my Delica.

Re: A nice 2-tone
Some months ago I saw this little beauty, but I was unable to get the photos to upload. Tried just now, and they have.

Re: A nice 2-tone
That is definitely on-topic James, a very nice 2-tone. Can't help smiling when I come across a random find like that myself when I'm out and about whether its a smart well presented car like that, or a rusty wreck, and having the camera in the pocket to get a photo all the better.

Re: A nice 2-tone
Unfortunately it was such a horrible car, a contrasting roof does nothing to improve it.

Re: A nice 2-tone
The 1300 is a one off white paint added job, not factory. My son's car was that original colour.
The minis, all badges, we painted an awful lot of roofs to suit the owner's choices.

Re: A nice 2-tone
Perhaps the 1300 owner really wanted an MG

Re: A nice 2-tone
OK, been looking at some old photos (see the C5 pictures thread recently), had a think and here we go with 2-tone.
I did have an accidental 2 tone for a few weeks, grey VW beetle with rust-red additions bought in great haste to get to work when my Hillman Hunter broke a piston ring one morning (after 167k miles, in the family from new). I put up with the seemingly cosmetic red rust for a short while, then one morning fastened the seat belt before closing the drivers door and noticed the door pillar moving being as how the bottom was rusted through. Then realized the 12 month MOT that the car came with might not have been wholly authentic......
But to real 2 tones.
My father had a Hillman Super Minx, blue body, off white roof. I know exactly where and when this was taken, waiting for a ferry on the dockside at Ostend after a trip to Yugoslavia and back, I was 14. The when - 30 July 1966 mid afternoon. You could just get English radio reception, much hissing interference, most people had car radios on or portables on the car roof, we had to board when it was 2-2 but the captain announced the score during the crossing. "They think it's all over ..... it is now".
In the late 70's a friend had a PA Cresta for a few months. GMs american wet dream, but somehow didn't match up to a Chevy Bel Air, nor does the Hinckley/Nuneaton area in winter measure up to the mountain highways of New Mexico.
Next up father in law had this VW split screen camper, bought it just before they retired and spent over 100 nights away in one year all in the UK.
And to the only 2 tone we have ever owned, well Hello Dolly .....
(Unusually, our current 2017 C3 Flair is solid red, a coloured roof was a no cost option but ours was pre-owned and original owner clearly didn't ask for the far more commonplace black top)
