If it's similar to my Samsung you may have a"Do not disturb" mode you can enable, that should do the trick.

Brilliant, thanks for that.
I do have it but it's well hidden under 3 layers of menus.
That will be most useful.

The cigar lighter chargers just change the cars 12v to 5v and omit the data pins.
A usb socket just has power at 5v and, if its a radio or pc connection, the data pins as well.
Nope, still don't get it.
Are you saying the charger's not a charger at all?
If it just provides 5v, how does the device get charged, just by supplying 5v to its battery for long enough?

Re: Elmas Xantia V6 and Musical Stuff
The USB standards allow for the USB ports to provide 5 volts (as well as the data connectivity). The amperage is different depending on which standard of USB ports are used. USB Standards 1 and 2 allowed for the ports to supply 500ma (half an amp) of power, while USB standard 3 can provide 2.1amps. USB compliant devices with batteries will charge from the USB ports, and the speed of charging will depend on the equipment. Only USB 3 compliant devices can accept 2.1amps from a USB 3 port, while all other devices will only take 500ma from a USB 3 port. A USB 3 device will only get 500ma from earlier USB ports.
You can purchase cigarette socket extension devices that not only give you 2 or more extra cigarette lighter power sockets, but some units also have USB ports. I have purchased a couple of these from Lidl/Aldi that have given two USB 2 ports and one USB 3 port, and they cost me around £5. This one has various amperages;

Sort of.
Simplified a little:
The usb cable is actually 2 cables glued together. One is for power and one is for data.
For now ignore the data as it's irrelevant to the question. Just understand that that aspect of the cable is how you can use usb data sticks, external hard drives etc.
A usb socket can be just power (at 5v and various amps) or power and data.
That just depends where it is. The ones we are talking about that plug into the fag lighter are just a 5v plug thats usb shape, same with the ones that plug into the mains..
The actual charger in the fag lighter or mains socket isn't a charger. It's actually a voltage changer which changes 12v from car or 230v from mains to 5v for usb. It has a usb socket as the output just because it's more economical than having the wire attached to the charger like in the old days.
The device isn't charged by supplying 5v to it's battery directly. Each device you charge has an onboard power controller. It takes the 5v and decides how to distribute it depending on how charged the battery is and how much power the device needs at the time. e.g. if you are using sat nag, bluetooth and wifi at the same time the phone will need lots of power so the power controller will send most of the current to the phone itself and a minimal amount to the battery.
I haven't said much about amps as James has it all in the post above. I'll just add that in splitting the current the battery and phone will both get 5v, the power controller is in charge of how many amps each gets. If you want to try to understand that then think of volts as pressure and amps as flow in plumbing. A 2 way valve splitting the incoming usb flow between the battery and phone wouldn't affect the pressure (voltage) to either. However it would be able to control the flow (amps) to each

Agreed, Apple products just work - simples! Being an original Nokia Communicator die hard and then a Blackberry aficionado for many years, and having everything else in between, I have to say Apple make stable products where everything works the same across all the devices - I'm looking forward to Apple integration in my next car:

Well it's really a C5 in disguise - and with a bit of luck they might mistake it for one of Donald Trumps genetically modified apples that we will no doubt be getting shipped over soon!
