Re: Elmas Xantia VSX
Back up, ready to go. My head hurts, probably from cleaning and spraying a set of rear callipers yesterday. No rain yet, just some wind, hopefully back on the road within the hour.

Excellent
I have extreme issues with solvents. I can't use them as a result so all paining is out for me...

All is well, noise is gone. Just a flying home visit, full photo update later with some lovely new issues.
I suffer too, wore a respirator to help but still got me.

Re: Elmas Xantia VSX
So this is what caused the mount to fracture.
The New one looks like this, taken from the 306 and thankfully in good condition. It's fitted backwards in the picture but don't worry I noticed and switched it around. You'll notice it has a little rubber nose that is missing from the end of the original, apparently that bits really important. I noticed it was missing when I changed the cambelt so I got taught a lesson really.
As for the new problems, not terrible ones, I have a few new leaks from the sump gasket, some little lhm pipes that are metal with 8mm head and a rubber to metal pipe near the Lhm tank as well.
I forgot to get new 3.5mm seals for the rear callipers, can I expect to find the same thing in these leaking pipes? Theres 2 sizes if I remember correctly, 10 of each should sort all this for now. Heres the callipers all painted up, flash is making them look silvery but they are matt black.
They will have a couple more coats and then I will rub down the mounting side with wet'n'dry until it's flat. I'm going to fit them with copper slip and no gasket, if they still rot I'll try the gasket next time.

They work a lot better if they are painted red

You're right but 92Bhp doesn't earn red, I did pick up the red can and put it back.myglaren wrote:They work a lot better if they are painted red
Found a nice Zx on ebay, I quite like the Volcanes.

Re: Elmas Xantia VSX
Had that ZX been seen by me before I bought the van I did, that would be on it's way north. It's lovely!

Your van's a pain in the butt, flog it and get the Volcane. I'd like it to go to someone on the Forum, and the Xm.

Re: Elmas Xantia VSX
I'm very tempted. I am 99% certain now its the air flow meter/sensor which is the vans problem. It drives well enough with it connected again to flog it privately and get my money back. I've always liked the ZX. I did have one years ago, it was a 1.8 petrol 5 door, I think it was an avantage. I did like it apart from ridiculously heavy steering. It was bought from a local dealers around the back trade ins that they do not sell for next to nothing and sold a few months later for double next to nothingelma wrote:Your van's a pain in the butt, flog it and get the Volcane. Just hit buy it now, he says cash only so you can take a week to sell the van. It's like gambling but without throwing money away. The Volcanes the good one that everyone wants.

Re: Elmas Xantia VSX
I would need a week to arrange collection. I have a problem however just now with collecting a car long distance in that my health has deteriorated. I think I will have a ZX or a pug 205 diesel at some point. I love both of them. Or if I could afford a second car as a toy the zx may well be a 2.0 16v, and the 205 a 1.9 gti. But there I go, dreaming again

Re: Elmas Xantia VSX
I just saw the C5 on the other thread, I think thats better value than the Zx if you do swap your van. Same reasons you just said why I'm not interested in the Zx, little fun toy I don't really need. Personally I'd have a Mg Metro Turbo if it could be any, I know it's not French but it's my favourite hot hatch. I've been offered one with a horribly modified body. If it's still there I'll have that one day and reshell it. I like Scotland anyway, if you need a car delivered just pay my train fare to it and home and I'll drop it off to you.

Re: Elmas Xantia VSX
Thats another one I like, the mg metro turbo. We had a cooking 1.3 hle for a while until the first mrs parked it in a field with the bottom ripped off, it got replaced with a roverised version 114sli which she got when we split and ran for years. I liked both of them, and they were surprisingly reliable although rust buckets!
