We have to pay at Tesco and Morrisons but thats because of some stupid council bylaw. They give you your parking fee back at the till.

Aldis free but if you don't put your number plate into the touchscreen at the checkout they charge you £70. They say they reduce it to £40 if you pay within 14 days but all 3 of my fines have arrived after the 14 day reduction expires. I'll never park in their carpark again as the first two which I don't have a til receipt to contest are distressing me. I have a feeling they will accept the 3rd one is erroneous and we shall fight out the other 2. Parking eye, the company who run it, have quite a reputation for being unreasonable when things are not clear cut. I've had a few fines fines from them since moving here but have always had the til receipt for the trip and just email them a copy. Usually they arrive before the cut off for the reduced fine so I don't know what happened with these 3.

I don't have time for it, still got over a months expenses to submit and my tax return to do. I keep falling asleep after work and I just can't get it done. I don't like Aldi either, only go there because they are open until 22:00. We have the old fashioned shops, baker, butcher and green grocer here who offer far better stuff at far better prices. Unfortunately I rarely can get into town when they are open and I won't go into town at the weekend as it's full of people.

Some good bargains picked up there in the musical world James :)

A Fender Strat is good but beware there are many cheap and cheerful copies out there and some are rubbish... Buyer beware... Same with a Fender P-Bass too... beware of cheap and poor fakes...

Aldi car park. I don't understand at all... What were they fining you for exactly?

The Xantia just needs TLC and then it (and your feelings toward it) will be fine ;)

I'm being fined for not putting my number plate into the machine on the way out of the store.

The Fender has been noticed by other people now, it's a genuine Fender floyd rose edition but as it's reached £50 I've stopped watching it.

It's just an excuse to rob people, people who can only afford budget supermarkets.

From their side it's to stop non customers using the car park.

Some of these new type car parks do Jim. It's done with ANPR software.

It's simply to stop people giving others their pay and display tickets I reckon. I often give mine to another person if I'm leaving a car park and it has plenty of time left on it.

Ahh, right...

All sounds like a lot of aggro to me and a perfect reason to never shop there ever again...

Sod all the sodding about for a game of soldiers...

I do the same on the rear occasions I'm forced to park in such places that charge... It's a very much appreciated gesture I find :)

To me all this that James raises is yet another example of needless stress and beauracracy making modern like as unpleasant as possible... I try to avoid at all costs for my own wellbeing and that Aldi would now have lost a customer in me - for good...

As Sainsburys did for having such lousy checkout service...

I only now shop at Waitrose where I can use their quickscan and no longer have to bugger about with checkouts and all the resultant stress and aggro they cause... Not the checkouts themselves but all the silly muppets in the queues....

I don't really care for aldi but it's 2 miles away and open late when people aren't there. Next closest is a 15min drive, waitrose is always shut when I go shopping but right next to aldi. Their parking system here is even worse and generally has a 10min queue because they scan your receipt on the way out.

I'm boycotting their carpark from now on though.

Got to love an Eko 12 string, something that's just "right" about them...and you definitely don't need an amp for that! There's a good reason that the Eko Ranger design got dragged back into production a few years back. As an owner of one of the modern ones, having compared it to an original there's not much between them, and certainly wasn't anything to tell them apart in sound terms.

Really need to find some time to get back into playing mine again. Yay, I get to go through the "shredding my fingers" stage all over again...

It does sound rather nice, though it hasn't the bassy rumble of my old Taylor.
I do hope putting on a set of DR strings will address that, I love a growly acoustic.
Being a bit of an experimenter I may well put a solid front onto it in the future to see what sound I can get.

The amps more for fun, I quite like the chorus, delay and distortion on the acoustic.
I bought it to have ready for the Telecaster because it was such a bargain.
I have to stop bargain hunting, they are all adding up to more than I thought and I need to save.
I'm only looking for items I can profit on now as I have enough toys to keep me entertained for some time.

I've just had a brief encounter with a very beautiful new neighbour. She's about 1ft, dressed in white feathers and can fly.
I first noticed her when something went past my front door at speed and about knee height. I thought nothing of it as there is so much wildlife here. A minute later a glorious Barn Owl did a flyby of the length of my caravan right past the living room windows. I spent the next 45 minutes trying to get a picture but only managed to get sky and my own hand even though she gave me 3 opportunities.

I have seen and heard a great number of Barn Owls but I have never seen one fly in daylight. At under 10m distance away from me it was a stunning sight. I'm already thinking I need to get a scrim net so I can get really close for a good picture. It's really made my night, but I do hope she doesn't move into my Barn as the screeching hiss Barn Owls make is really quite annoying. I shan't complain if she does though, I'm very lucky to have such a vast amount of wildlife around me. So far as I can remember I have seen Deer, Rabbits, Hares, Ducks, various other Birds of all sizes, Badgers, Foxes and all sorts of rodents all within the boundaries of my home.

That sounds like a heavenly place to live. I take it the cameras are complaining about how much work they are having to do?
