Good to hear you've got some good results ,I'll probably try one of the clay mitts myself to see how it compares to normal clay.

Re: 406 V6 Coupe
This is where we are so far. The actual paint finish is lovely - just need to shift the splats of tree sap! There are still quite a few surface scratches and such, but it's a 26 year old paint finish that's seen 128K miles of service so it's never going to be absolutely perfect.

...Would really like to get shot of the tree in question to be honest given the mess it makes (and the worry that it's going to drop branches on the cars in high winds), but that would be prohibitively expensive unfortunately, not least because it involves closing the road.
Next shot may be to try soaking it under a warm damp rag for a while and seeing if I can soften the spots to the point that they can actually be removed, it's like trying to remove glass at the moment.

Re: 406 V6 Coupe
You could try some more clay but something quite aggressive from Bilt Hamber maybe, they do varying levels of claybar. Failing that maybe wetsanding the area but it would mean machine polishing really after sanding.

Re: 406 V6 Coupe
Due to lack of use the battery was flat so after a charge things were back to normal service , ie massive smile whenever you fire it up . It'll be standing in for the C8 this week which has a faulty rear caliper . It may well become the vehicle of choice too very soon .
