I too liked the Renault Dauphin ads. But that should surely be a Talbot Sunbeam.
Which confused me as one of my teachers had a Sunbeam Alpine.

Re: Car Adverts-Which ones stick?-in print and film
Wiki has this to say on the Chrysler Sunbeam. It was renamed the Talbot Sunbeam after PSA took over Chrysler's European operations.
Regards Neilhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Sunbeam
The Chrysler Sunbeam is a small supermini three-door hatchback manufactured by Chrysler Europe at the former Rootes Group factory in Linwood in Scotland, from 1977-81. The Sunbeam's development was funded by a UK Government grant with the aim of keeping the Linwood plant running, and the small car was based on the larger Hillman Avenger, also manufactured there. After the takeover of Chrysler's European operations by PSA, the model was renamed Talbot Sunbeam and continued in production until 1981.

I think the age of the memorable car advert has well and truly past. Tesla don't even bother with them, more than enough media content is generated on line. Not unexpectedly the memorable car advert harks back to the 1970's and 1980's for me. I literally cant think of any in the last few years/decades that have made any impression at all.NewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑19 Aug 2014, 10:42This is a better from Corbett and Barker.....I remember the line..... "didn't say I'd been inside?..." from Corbett
So my top three would be obviously Joanne and David of the Renault 25 Saga, the Rover 200 series advert ("Up where we belong" and running up the Steps at South Shields Town Hall!), and Nicole and Papa!
Whats yours!

I seem to recall that when Lamborghini were asked why they did not make TV adverts their response was along the lines that Lamborghini people don't watch TV.

Re: Car Adverts-Which ones stick?-in print and film
I thought that is was going to be from "The Graduate" and although it is donkeys years since I saw it, this just didn't look right. And the music is wrong.
Is that really South Shields town hall? Haven't been there for at least twenty years either.
Looked them up and it would have been 1964/5 when I saw The Graduate and 1983 for Ociffer and a Gentleman.
Never seen the car ad, don't watch them.

You have to watch the full ad from my post above to appreciate the similarity with The Graduste Steve!

Adverts are far worse than fingernails on a blackboard Mick, and the reason I don't watch TV.
Was OK when I was younger but for years now they are intolerable.

Definitely without a doubt South Shields Town hall, I know cos I was there when they filmed it.!
Vic and Bob did a parody of the advert for the Renault Clio, and the Nicole Papa adverts were also on my list. Somewhere back in this thread there is a nice vid of Nicole 25 years on.
