Does anyone recall the Lada advert with Cannon and Ball?

I think it is supposed to be pronounced Ksantia - emphasising the 'X' as it is presumably Greek derived.

likewise ( xylophone ) pronounced Zylophone
FCF spell checker wont allow me to put a Z together with antia, it changes it to Xantia

Yes I remember that one now! Linking in to car adverts made by comedians. There is no doubt that Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbert have produced some excellent comedy, but I am afraid that this effort for British Leyland must have been the low point of their careers. They surely couldn't have written the script....please..northern_mike wrote:Does anyone recall the Lada advert with Cannon and Ball?

I rather liked the spoof done by the "Not the Nine O'clock News" team. The new BL Ambassador, built by Roberts!

The spell checker corrects Z+antia as so many were misspelling the name.

Towards the end of my Xantia days, referred to them as "that (-expletive removed-) thing", removing the need to worry about pronunciation. .myglaren wrote:Out of habit I always say Z-antia.citronut wrote:northern_mike wrote:I hope it's pronounced santia as I've been saying it like that for 20 years!
