Mattel, if you are outside of the North American continent, and Hasbro if you are inside said continent!

Thank you for clearing that up, I thought I was right using 'dryer', for once the French is more obvious 'bouteille deshydratante' :-D don't get to say that very often about the French language

If Northern_Mike and Citroenxm are trying to contact me by PM I haven't received anything - have sent both of them a PM regarding the spoiler but have had no response although both messages have been read apparently. Just don't want them to think I am ignoring them :) I know this is off topic but both posted on this thread last night.

For the few bob it will cost, new drier and O-rings are cheap, if the system has been open to the air at all (ie; no stored pressure) then a new TX valve also.

A small amount of oil is normally lost with a drier change, this can be guessed at by the regasser. Always have the UV reactive dye added.

Good idea about the TX valve, just have to find where it is and judge whether we are capable /have the facilities to change it.
Thanks,

The TX valve was discussed on another thread, I learnt it is RIGHT UNDER the LHM tank, where the Air Con pipes enter into the evaporator in the car! So its a bit of a strip down.

Ive never needed to remove or replace a TX valve from open systems and have them working perfectly. The key is a GOOD LONG Vac down, and a slow recharge and ensure the correct amount of gas an system oil is in there.

The key is the Vac down and ensure it holds a vaccuum.. Basically the same as gassing up with an Ozone friendly gas with a Dye in it to look for leaks.

I guessed the TX valve might be beyond our capabilities. Think we will go ahead without changing it and hope for the best, now I need to find an aircon specialist who will do a good job of the Vac down - easier said than done here!

We should have stayed in Wales (actually Forest of Dean but spitting distance to the border, I'm Welsh by birth), would have been much better for the cars all round

I wish! We can't leave France at the moment due to one of the cats being on long-term treatment from the vet, it takes two to get the tablets down his throat! We can't even find a good pet-sitter to give us a break

You might want to try this trick. Crush the tablets to a powder, and then mix the powder into some Primula cheese (you know, the stuff that comes in tubes!). Then offer that to the cat.

It helps if you get a cheese the cats like (such as prawn flavoured), and then give them a small amount daily as a treat.

Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt  He can smell the tablets!
This is the larger Maine Coon at 10kg so his dosage is the amount for a small dog and he is the fussiest cat in creation, it is easier to put the tablet straight down his throat, if he's just woken up it's easy, but otherwise out come the claws and teeth  He's a lovely cat, a big gentle giant except for pills and grooming :-D

My mums' cat Waah-Li didn't like Primula cheese, but she definitely had a thing for clotted cream, so she used that instead. Mind you, Waah-li wasn't that fussy when it came to taking pills.

Whenever we had something for pudding that used clotted cream Waah-li would get a finger dab of cream, and she would enjoy it and then sit off to one side with an expression of "If there is any more going I wouldn't say no". However, if she didn't get her treat she would sit off to one side muttering loudly about how hard done by she was! (and you know how loudly cats can mutter!).
