Pull it out, the code MIGHT be written on the back of the unit?

Have you got any handbooks..?

Hi

I have the code, but when I hold the BND button it doesn't allow me to add it in, as 4 lines appear, not sure what to do next?

Theres little you can do. Its locked out and needs an engineer reset. Contary to people's beleif leaving the radio on for two hours wont clear it .. thats a series one radio system trick.. im sure of it.

The four lines indicate the incorrect code has been entered too many time.. however if you have a god battery on your car you could try leaving it switched for continuiously for two hours and see if it clears.. contridicting my self.. but by continious I mean no starting the carxwhich might cut supply to the radio. Try say for example over night or late evening when you wont use the car again for about three hours.. but im sure it doesnt work.

You don't do that on a Series 2 radio. Once it's locked you have to press two buttons simultaneously or something to get another try at entering the code. I can't remember what they are though. I got caught out by this on my S2 V6 recently. Left the radio on for hours but it made no difference. The manual for the radio tells you what to press.

I'm just a grumpy Northern git.

If its an original factory radio in a S2 take proof of ownership in to a Citroen dealer (and VIN number if you don't take the car with you) and they should be able to give you the radio code (four numbers) and also the "confidential code" for programming keys, which is four letters/numbers.

They will probably charge you for that, although I've heard some will do it for free. There are also some third parties that can get the radio code for you - I got the codes for my S2 from "the Birdman" on this forum a couple of years ago but I'm not sure if he can still do them.

Edit: didn't see the post where you said you have the code already, but if its locked out are you sure the code is correct ?

On my old S2 I managed to lock it out once (with the four dashes) and it did eventually allow me to hold down BND to enter the code again. Can't remember whether I left the power disconnected for a long time or what I did. I think I left the battery disconnected over night and then held down BND after I reconnected it, but can't remember for sure.

Thats all good and well Mandrake IF the 4 dash's come up in the CENTRE of the display.

BUT If two sets of dashs appear, middle and bottom, thats a completely different thing again, and can never seem to come out of it...

Thank you for your replies.

I found the radio manual which states to leave it on for an hour and then start again, which I did earlier, but it will not allow me to add the damn code, as not mesage comes up for me to add it.

So when I switch on 4 lines in the middle, when I hold the BND four lines at the bottom.... :!: .....is this bad?

Just found this link

I really don't fancy taking the stereo and hooking up to a bench for 30 hours!

If you can be without the car for 30 hours and don't want to remove the radio maybe just hook up a trickle charger to the battery while you leave it on ? It would easily cover the current drain of the radio and prevent your battery going down.

Also are you sure your radio is the same model as the one in the linked thread ?
