I usually use auto glass window polish inside and out on all my windows, and do them about once a month. I never touch them between cleans and they seem ok always

I Rain-X the windscreen, which means I don't need to use the wipers much, and when I do they are very quiet. I also use IPA to clean the inside glass, followed by a proper glass cleaner (the IPA shifts the grease normal glass cleaner cannot shift). That reminds me, I need to clean the glass again.

IsoPropyl Alcohol. It works, and doesn't have a strong smell, and what smell there is, is covered by the smell of the normal glass cleaner. I have also used Anti Static Foaming Cleaner on the outside glass when the car (not mine) had been left parked under a tree for months, and it was able to get the grot off.

Well, I used to get it from my employers, but you can get it on e-bay (although it isn't that cheap!). £14 for 5l or £23 for 10l.

eBay?
I am lucky in working for a double glazing manufacturer and we use it in copious amounts, some of which seems to migrate in my direction for occasional glass cleaning operations.
Too occasional unfortunately as mine badly needs doing but the round tuits are in short supply.

Re: Simon's new Xantia V6 blog
I used to use methylated spirits quite successfully on the inside of the window (despite the purple colouring additive which would in theory leave some residue) but I don't think the formulation for meths is the same here as it is in NZ...

I used meths once to clean the glass, and I couldn't shift the smell (which caused me to have headaches). The smell of IPA isn't that bad, doesn't last long, and is masked by other cleaners.

Meths in NZ doesn't have any methanol content unlike the UK formulation - its much closer to being just IPA with purple dye - perhaps that's why the UK stuff is more smelly ?Hell Razor5543 wrote:I used meths once to clean the glass, and I couldn't shift the smell (which caused me to have headaches). I certainly didn't have any trouble with the smell afterwards. Is it possible to buy a bottle of IPA in the UK over the counter anywhere ?

Re: Simon's new Xantia V6 blog
Well my muffler has arrived - it took up the entire brown garden waste bin when the courier had to deliver it when nobody was home...
I've only peeled back one end of the packaging to peek inside before stowing it in the shed - it looks like the Polish one that I bought for the silver problem child.
Does anyone know if its possible to buy stainless steel exhaust tips that will fit and slip over the ones on the muffler ? I notice the stainless steel tips on the OEM muffler just appear to be sleeves that slip over the pipes as well...
It would make it look a bit nicer at the back as they are fairly roughly cut at the tips.

Mine has arrived too Simon but it's with my dad in Someset. He commented on the packing too...
AS for chrome trims, I'd be tempted to see what the show'n'shine BarryBoys supliers can come up with... I'm sure you can still get what was once called tailpipe embellishers...

I got a chrome shotgun tip for the c4 when the original oval tip was iffy with rust. I bought it on ebay I think it was about £20. It took two minutes to fit after o cut the original off with the grinder.
