Works for me - it's a PDF file.

So after searching quite a bit it seems that Loctite 5910 has been superseded by 5980 and that it is equivalent. Almost nobody is listing 5910 now and some of those listings say 5910/5980 or say that they are now shipping 5980, such as these ones:

https://www.bearingshopuk.co.uk/loctite-5910-80ml

https://seriesforever.com/en/tools/3899 ... eting.html

Uncharacteristically, RS is one of the cheapest sources of 5980...

I have seen Loctite 5980 recommended as a substitute for 5910.

It is readily available https://www.halfords.com/motoring/tools ... 99720.html

Too late, just ordered it from RS for a few quid more... but it should be here tomorrow...

Have also ordered oil and oil filter from opie oils, so I'll have everything I need to do the job shortly. (Except good weather!!)

Can anyone tell me what circlip pliers I need for this clip on the sump strainer ? :(
IMG_6610.JPEG
I somewhat foolishly disconnected it to clear some chunks of rubber from the strainer thinking I could get it back on again with a normal pair of needle nose pliers but no, can't do it.

When I look for circlip pliers online I can't find any that look like they would fit, and I don't know what I'm looking for by name.

Any ideas ? I'm now stuck until I can get this silly clip back on. Well, not completely stuck, I'm still yet to clean and degrease everything so I can apply the new sealant, but I won't be able to reassemble until I can get the clip back on.

'R-clip' pliers but I've also used ceramic tile nibblers to good effect if you have some of those available .....

I used these - they did it with ease!
IMG_6611.JPEG
I didn't think the hook would ride up over the ridge just by squeezing them together with these but it did and it worked first try. On to the next bit of the job...

Not sure what a ceramic tile nibbler looks like ?

Carpenter's pincers - the things they use for pulling out nails... I think... I don't do woodwork so I'm only assuming that's what they do with them...

I have a small pair that's just the job. Also good for driveshaft boot clips too...

Well that's the pan refitted. I'm going to give it 24 hours for the sealant to harden before I put any oil back in.

I'm not too happy with my application of sealant - buying a toothpaste tube style dispenser instead of a cartridge gun type turned out to be a mistake - with a medium size hole cut in the nozzle it was far too difficult to squeeze to get any kind of steady controllable flow of sealant due to the high viscosity, I had to cut the hole a bit bigger than I'd prefer, then it became very difficult to dispense it neatly. I've probably used far too much and it's pretty messy. :(

So I'm not confident in how good a seal I have until it has been put to the test.

If you mean these...

they aren't a chippy, these are mainly used by steel fixers to tie rebar together with steel wire. Most chippys would use a claw hammer to remove nails

Yes, that's the kind of tool Ryan... There, I told you I was only guessing and assuming... Wood and me don't like each other. Very allergic to sawdust.

And paint and varnish...
