Re: Whatsthisthen?..entries invited!
Does it have a connection (perhaps tenuous?) to a UK car manufacturer?

Re: Whatsthisthen?..entries invited!
Well its not Henri Chapron, but wondering if it is someone of his ilk, a coachbuilder, hence the "dog cart" and the cartwheel.
Henri is more of a cockerel man

Re: Whatsthisthen?..entries invited!
Including your own!
This is a tremendous French site for all things automotive and full of interesting articles packed with information, pictures and original adverts and brochures. It is not a problem but it is in French!
...and it has a very comprehensive coverage of the answer to Richard's Whatsthisthen?
http://leroux.andre.free.fr/
So a couple of pics cribbed from that site. Lots of great pictures of this particular model within this article,
but the critical one is here
http://leroux.andre.free.fr/hvisacab1.jpg
and here's the newer logo on a grander scale

Re: Whatsthisthen?..entries invited!
Well that was a good one, I was also looking for coachbuilders, but got fixated with Hess & Eisenhardt http://www.coachbuilt.com/bui/h/hess_ei ... nhardt.htm, the only other 'H' coachbuilder that I could think of.

Nice list of models given the Heuliez treatment on the P.O.T.D. thread including a very nice Renault Fuego Cabriolet.

Moving along... does anybody recognise this?
Never a common sight on the UK roads, it does deserve to be in a museum.

First impressions, eastern european or micro car the pic does make it look small.
Heres a wartburg with very similar light arrangements but the grill is way out.

Re: Whatsthisthen?..entries invited!
Thats saved me a few hours of head scratching! I think you could well have come up with the answer.
Right enough its an interesting little car with its wankel engine, and a style I like.

Re: Whatsthisthen?..entries invited!
Bingo!
I have seen 2 of these in the last 5 years (both red and RHD), one in Hertfordshire and one (pictured above) in Malta. The owner of the one in the UK, who had apparently owned it from new said that his was the first of only 4 RHD examples built, and that it was the very first Wankel rotary engined car to be registered in the UK, and new rules on measuring engine capacity had to be devised before it could be registered.
