Re: Whatsthisthen?
You think so? I'm more convinced it's a "Opel Corsa A" (I.e. Nova) with a could of stickers between tail lights and rear number plate

Re: Whatsthisthen?
You've definitely made me think again Matt, the reversing light on the Nova matches very well so maybe I shouldn't have swayed from my first thoughts!! I got carried away with the 'white blobs' and hence jumped at the Yugo After further consideration I'm back to my first thought of a an Opel Nova!! I think!!

Re: Whatsthisthen?
The Opel Corsa A was produced in Yugoslavia: Kikinda (IDA-Opel), maybe another thing in its favour towards ending up in East Germany, and the colour of this example looks similar too! September 1982 first ones produced.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Not really what's this, more "What idiot's idea is this!?"
Not idiotic to try to improve Torx fittings, no I mean to make the new any improved version visually near indistinguishable from "standard" Torx!?!?!?!
5 splines, 7 splines?? Nah, 6 splines, just the same!
See also Ribe bits, also six splines!

Re: Whatsthisthen?
I had to source a 5(?) splined set for a MAF sensor the other week. Seems little point in making them so awkward when all you do is go out and buy the correct bit for the job

Re: Whatsthisthen?
"Sells more bits"
To be honest I don't generally mind buying (or better yet, making!) a special tool for a special job,
But I dislike finding out why I'd struggled wasn't my own ineptitude, but rather as "similar but not the same" fitting as per the above!
Much also like the "Philips that's not Philips" mentioned on here a while back (Was it JIS bits, err, Japanese Irritate Standard??)

Know your Bridges. Wherearethesethen?
Yes very unlikely you will know them off the top of your head, but a small amount of research will produce the results. Keep at it, perfectly possible.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
The railway bridge would appear to be Niffany Bridge right by the Leeds and Liverpool canal to the west of Skipton ? And the canal bridge is an un-named one to the south of Skipton down an dead end road and very near to a charging point !

Re: Whatsthisthen?
That's close enough thanks for having a go!. The railway bridge is a little further along the line at Gargrave Station.
The Canal Bridge is a little swing bridge thing of which there are quite a few on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. Stayed at the Hotel at the Canal side. The Skipton Hotel, formerly the Rendezvous Hotel. Very good and surprisingly good value for money.
The bridge looks to be called the Snaygill Swing Bridge. no 181.

The railway bridge is at Gargrave Station 3 miles or so west of Skipton on the line known generallly as the Settle-Carlisle although Settle itself is a few stops beyond Skipton. (The bit between Skipton and Settle is listed as Midland main Line North 2 in asset lists) http://www.railwaycodes.org.uk/bridges/mml3.pdf Neil

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Railwaydata has it as 'Gargrave and Broughton Road' but looking on the map it appears to be nowhere near the Broughton Road bridge Perhaps they have their own naming methods
