Re: Whatsthisthen?
The unresolved whatsthisthen
's are stacking up
Jim's is very easily nailable if you don't know top of the head do a google image search. I was there, as was Mick so someone else please apply the coup de grace on that one.
Alasdair's evades any google image search, the "Swiss 1024" produces nothing of any relevance. I conclude that the picture we have of it is the only picture on the world wide web of the article.
To nail it clues or the 20 questions approach may be required...I'm certainly getting nowhere fast with it.
My first question would be Is it Automotive related

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Assuming it is actually Swiss - what are the Swiss famous for ?
Hilly bits with cows on.
Hilly bits with snow on.
Cheese.
Chocolate.
Weapons.
Hmmmmmm.

Jim's is an orienteering control. The number at the top is the identifier (so you know you have found the right one) and the letter is the secret code so that you can prove that you found it.
Sticky's may be some sort of burner wick for warming something, but probably nothing like that.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Well done Mike, that clears the way for the FCF faithful to concentrate on a bit of questioning to get to Alasdair's poser.

Following on from Bobin's weapons,
Does the bottle contain a chemical, or would have contained a chemical

Not automotive, Question 2

My cousin Margaret would have known that she was an orienteering scout, couldn't ask her though as she died a few years ago.xantia_v6 wrote: 29 Sep 2024, 08:42 Jim's is an orienteering control. Re: Whatsthisthen?
A quick recap
Feel free to jump in with your own questioning, if we collectively reach 20 without getting it, Alasdair has won
The Big Picture (nothing like it on the Net and google image search fails!)

So my question 3. No mention of Bobins "weapons" in the negatives, so
Is it weapons related![]()

Re: Whatsthisthen?
No cows involved....
The grey "thing" is hollow up to just before the polished "neck"....the neck is also hollow and has a tapered internal surface with a thread at the bottom.
The grey "thing" is 1.3cm long
What do I win ?

Re: Whatsthisthen?
That priceless commodity which Keef and Mick wrote about but could get none of, although they did use a double negative.
Need to answer the questions accurately for a valid win though and 17 questions to go
"No cows" is not a valid answer to the question "Is it Weapons Related

Time for others to take up the baton

Re: Whatsthisthen?
No cows, cow by-products, no cow or bull bovine or veterinary relation at all
No weapons
Yes, the bottle is always empty, the bottle contains the grey thing until "used"
Nothing to do with snow or cheese.
It is not related to "lady stuff"....tbh I cannot imagine what you are thinking on that one
.....the "grey thing" is 1.3cm so unless it is a VERY cold day
No weapons

Re: Whatsthisthen?
I'll waste Question Number 6, Mike suggested a burner of some sort
(some sort of burner wick for warming something, but probably nothing like that.)
The white content of the clear glass bottle, could be something which produces light, not a mantle which would require some burning, but maybe a fluorescent material.

NeilNumber 6
When the green thing is connected to the grey thing and then connected to the gold thing and the glass "bottle" and the whole assembly is in operational mode, does the material in the glass "bottle" emit light.?
