Had a thought maybe its som kind of tool for removing a car radio then I watched this vid on removing a subaru Legacy radio ( https://youtu.be/0_QzgDAqUd) what a palaver...but he did use a trim removal tool. Nowt like the whatsthisthen? in its form, but other trim removal tools have similarly shaped objects for prising trim from its fixings.

Mostly plastic granted

I cannot put up a picture of part 3 as it will effectively be the answer to the puzzle. A further word clue may be that the parts shown are removed from part 3 when cleaning!! :-D

Jim reminded me today that I haven't revealed the purpose of the "mystery metal things". I gave him the clue that he was the only other FCFer who had seen them, so this is the final clue, he did not realise he was seeing them at the time as they were doing their job which meant they were covered over and helping me!! :-D

Woohoo! :-D

Even managed to get the colour right too with my Amazon image!

My dad broke both his wrists and still wears these (but in a much less sexy NHS issue beige colour scheme) if he's doing any "big jobs" (i.e. the type I wish he'd ask me to help with, but generally hear about after the event!)

No woodbine allowed at the age of 8!! I'm shocked as it was just after the war, quite happy to make gas masks with asbestos but no smoking....

Many people were living in asbestos houses after the war - and I think some still are.
