Not a motoring Whatsthisthen.
Besides the JSW tape and many other delights, I found this:
I have a vague recollection of using these, maybe in a vending machine of some sort, but has anyone any idea what or where:

Don't think so James, I never have used fruit machines and don't go to fairs.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Could be anything from a coffee vending machine to a car park barrier token.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Probably, although I have never had to use one in a car park.
I wonder if it could have been a car wash/jetwash.
Or a tyre inflation machine in a service station.

Probably a sleight of hand pound coin, somebody slipped you a Russian electric meter token.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
I can remember slotting them into machines as they had to go in like a key, using the slots.
But where?

Re: Whatsthisthen?
I can remember using them too Steve, having to get them the right way round to go in but so far I can't remember what they went in either but it certainly wasn't a jukebox. I have only ever put pre decimal 6d's in jukeboxes as I stopped using them in 1970!! I'll keep thinking!!

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Had you been using Italian Jukeboxes you could well have used hundreds of Gettonesmickthemaverick wrote: 01 Sep 2021, 18:39 but it certainly wasn't a jukebox. I have only ever put pre decimal 6d's in jukeboxes as I stopped using them in 1970!!
Gettone is the Italian word for "Token" and it derives from the word for a jukebox "juke-box a gettoni"
Regards Neilhttps://dailyitalianwords.com/italian-w ... ell-liked/
Gettone means token in Italian and the verb gettonare can also describe the action of making a phone call with a coin-operated public telephone.
The feminine form is gettonata whereas the respective plurals are gettonati and gettonate.
un cantante gettonato = a popular singer
una canzone gettonata = a popular song
dei cantanti gettonati = popular singers
delle canzoni gettonate = popular songs
