My first thoughts were 1960s Buick.

I did wonder about a Crown. My 'girlfriend's' husband had one, terrifying machine. Large and comfortable but just awaiting an opportune moment to self-destruct.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
We will have to see whether it is some incarnation of a crown. Our next door neighbours for a time were a family from the Faroe Islands, and when they came over they bought two new cars from Belgium to take back to the Faroes. One of them was a Toyota Crown Super Saloon, the other a Mazda 616 both popular models in the Faroes but considerably cheaper in Belgium at the time.
I remember they got them "Zeibarted" straight away. Do people still Zeibart vehicles now

Re: Whatsthisthen?
I guess that there are no other Antipodeans reading this topic, as the body shell (but not the grille and badging) are unmistakably an HQ Holden.

But it is not a Holden, nor badged as any other GM brand.

Which Museum was that at Mikexantia_v6 wrote: 19 Jan 2021, 20:49 Yes, you got it, here is the remainder of my knowledge of this unicorn...

I did have a paddle around a couple of Videos of the Nelson WOW Museum but didn't spot it. There was a grey one At Nelson, and I found this forum post with a few more intimate under bonnet photos following the reveal.

Re: Whatsthisthen?
Could be a good shout, I don't know the answer. Maybe if Zel or Mike (Xantia V6) see it they could cast a forensic XJS eye over it.mickthemaverick wrote: 21 Jan 2021, 11:48If we did my first guess would be the XJS Convertible:NewcastleFalcon wrote: 19 Jan 2021, 22:25 We could extract a car whatsthisthen from the video but this is all we get is this.

As an aside I did watch Cliff on Top Gear where he did confess personally to having a love of American cars but I would doubt if he supplied his own car for the video, but maybe would have liked an American one if he had a choice.
In another aside I find that Cliff's "fourth car" was up for Auction fairly recently, and at the same auction they also had one of Lulu's cars. Not too difficult a ferret to find that one out.

Unless they 'flipped' the video that is a right hand drive car.NewcastleFalcon wrote: 21 Jan 2021, 13:38Could be a good shout, I don't know the answer. Re: Whatsthisthen?
I am certain it was filmed in the UK. When he is walking around the water feature with the figure '8' there, is, momentarily, a red Morris Marina and a white Peugeot 504 estate car in the background (the Pug stood out for me, as we had one in the early 80s' and that was what I first learned to drive in (I couldn't complete the driving lessons/test for financial reasons)).

Re: Whatsthisthen?
You are absolutely right. Milton Keynes to be precise. Several references on other threads this morning stemming from Zel's posting on the Pickled Egg Jukebox. There's even a book deposited at the Pickled Egg Library
