Well done Mick on getting that... I'm intrigued... The speedo is a British Smiths but it works backwards (anti-clockwise)... Never seen or been aware of a thing beforeNewcastleFalcon wrote: ↑14 Nov 2020, 17:44 There is enough here to identify the car
Clues to follow if too difficult

You're not left handed by any chance are you Jim?CitroJim wrote: ↑14 Nov 2020, 18:27
Why? I'm genuinely interested as your comment Mick, on my morning run today made me realise just how naturally anti-clockwise I am...
Right from a young age I've had a tendency to read a book, newspaper or magazine backwards and I still do...
Maybe I'm just backward
Now that's interesting
The connections are amazing. Was the anticlockwise thing in my thinking when I selected the whats this then?mickthemaverick wrote: ↑14 Nov 2020, 18:29 The main clue for me was the painted surround in a popular Cobra colour. Because I knew some of them have an anti-clockwise speedo (which is topical in my mind from Jim's run this morning!) so I thought it was worth a punt!
I like that Mick... I find it perfectly intuitivemickthemaverick wrote: ↑14 Nov 2020, 18:54 I do believe I own the perfect clock for you Jim, here are two shots taken a few seconds apart so you can see the movement of the second hand:

"...We have pursued a number of retired ex-Smiths employees to gain benefit of their knowledge. When the car [Cobra] was being designed, the engineers realized that the cable drive from the gearbox to the speedometer was anticlockwise rotation, instead of the more usual clockwise. The normal procedure for an anticlock drive was to fit a reversing gearbox on the rear of the speedo to convert the rotation to drive a conventional clockwise speedo. Between the Cobra engineers and Smiths Industries, it was decided to offer an anticlock speedo as a feature, and obviously cost reduce the speedo installation by not having a cable drive gearbox.
