I don't remember The Troublshooters Neil so I can't comment on the genre of it, However I can say that the thinking so far is not too far off the mark, narrowing down the options fairly well. I will add that it is not a police series.

No connection here but I have just come across this, the challenge is Name the programme and the leading star!! 100 points TOH, 50 points researched with pictorial evidence, 10 points for just the researched answers!!

I think the coup de grace is close, but to get the full 100 its got to be TOH, and I dont remember the name of that series although you may have mentioned it Mick. So max I could go for is 50.

I have ordered box sets of The Plane Makers, The Power Game and The Brothers, I already have Howard's Way, Big Deal and Out of Town full sets.......

Yes indeed I did mention it, so I knew the answer was out there on the forum if you were paying attention!
I bought the DVD box set of The Plane Makers and so far I am halfway through disc 3 of 12. I am amazed at the number of now famous people I have spotted so far:
Rodney Bewes
Barbara Windsor
Bryan Murphy
Reginald Marsh (The Good Life)
Wilfred Bramble
Patrick McNee
Barbara Murray

to name the more famous ones. I also hadn't realised that it is a series not a serial so SWMBO has joined me for a couple of the episodes as they are complete stories in each one. Some great 60's cars to be spotted and the smoking is horrendous!!

Just to tidy up a loose end, you may have noticed that Chris' link to Rodney Bewes' career page did not include the answer. A straightforward omission on Wiki's part but it does prove the theory that Wiki is only a guide!! I will admit to grinning when I saw the answer wasn't there
