I thought it was weird that image turned through 90° when I uploaded it! Actually that's a better picture; just hope it prompts an answer to my question.
Another clue MIGHT be "H.I.D" which appears on the face it's standing on - although the font suggests that's probably the make.
While my box of tricks has 3 terminals, that relay has 4 (3 terminal relays seem to be an Indian thing - but I digress). "limited life" must be an American term of art, as I've often seen references to it - but don't profess to understand it. "AZ" does not have the best reputation among the major national auto parts chains & I suspect many Americans would suggest "limited" in the context of their warranty applies to its use (sorry, another digression).

Now thats what I call "Excellent whatsthisthen-ing"
Well done! You can make out Gaz (although it looks like VA3 to me!..edit..it is ГАЗ...Russian GAZ) just about at the front and it had a DDR sticker on the rear.

Re: Whatsthisthen?..A pair of "jeeps" (sort of..)
I've driven the DDR equivalent of that VW. So the question is - what's the DDR equivalent of it ? It's not a direct equivalent, but there's enough similarities that it could be described as an East German version of the West German vehicle.

Close, but not close enough. It had a VERY similar name to both the VW and the Wartburg.

Anyone know off the top of the head what this is. Same source as the "VW" lookalike above, and presumably a DDR Police Vehicle and a very nice 2-tone to boot.

The Trabant 601 "Kübel", based on 'The people's car of the DDR'.
Terrifying and hilarious in equal measures
The only thing that comes to mind that was worse was a Polish Fiat 126 - I didn't so much as climb out of it at the end of my short drive..... as fall out onto the floor in hysterics
Fiat 126 were never built for 6' hairy blokes with size 12 feet

Re: Whatsthisthen?..A pair of "jeeps" (sort of..)
That big "H" on the bonnet marked that out as a Horsh straight away but must admit I hadn't realised that became an E. German manufacturer.
Saw one of those military Trabbies yesterday (also an electric one -missed that of my electric cars spotted) AND, the day before, the Daf equivalent -oh, & an AutoUnion Munga!
b-t-w, some of those VAZ's are UAZ's - depending on where they were made.

Re: Whatsthisthen?..A pair of "jeeps" (sort of..)
So lets have a closer look at our 69A
and what do we see
Not Gorkovsky Avtomobilnyi Zavod GAZ ( ГАЗ)
nor Volzhsky Avtomobilny Zavod VAZ ( BA3)
but Ulyanovskiy Avtozavod Zavoid UAZ (УАЗ)
So does that bring Bobins identification into question? Absolutely not...and indeed the subtle "A" on the end does precisely mark it out as the four door version.

DVLA at least thinks the year of manufacture is 1959 which fits in with it being built in the UAZ factory. The GAZ-69 is a four-wheel drive light truck, produced by GAZ (ГАЗ, or Gorkovsky Avtomobilnyi Zavod, Gorky Automobile Factory) between 1953 and 1956 and then by UAZ, in 1956–1972, though all of these vehicles were known as GAZ-69s.
