Anyone fancy a try?

Lets look at the evidence

There's no makers name/model name on the rear at all, and looking at the image in severe close up I can't see any evidence of them being edited out by Puxa.

Its a bit flat/straight line-y, at the rear and the lights similarly flat and rectangular. German or Italian maybe but they arent shy about putting their name on the back! Can't find a japanese look alike at the moment.

I suspect it could be a coupe.

and as I've said before google aint what it used to be churns out far to many irrelevant US results.
Stuck for now......Clue time Puxa :?:

But surely its manymanymany miles from its original home if thats the case! Maybe the lights were fitted to some other model!

Strewth Neil, looks like you've got it !!

Won't post another pic for a day or two to not give the game away for others' benefit, as the side & front view make identification substantially easier; but pretty confident we're on the same page.

Happy to pm you if you're desperate for confirmation you're right :-D

It was the twin exhaust clue that helped me get it, couldn't refine a rear lights query to come up with anything.

Looked up how many's left and across all models for that maker probably less than 200 in the UK, probably a lot on sorn so quite a rarity.

Did you take the model identifiers off the back?

no, there were none. Guess an owner's removed them in the course of the car's life coz would expect there to be some....

...but your image of the white car there aren't any either, so maybe not.

'nother, easier, view of it for everyone else who hasn't worked it out.

and for Neil, note the lack of corner indicators on the front and the Lattice-y sorta Grille; I couldn't actually find a single pic of one of these online with this Grille and without Indicators at the front corners (must be in the Headlamp unit?); so even though I've got the name, I've not nailed it 100%

I edited out the model name from the left and the number from the right with "Paint".

I think it's the LX version, as that was only built between '76-'78 - hence you don't find many exactly like that :)

A bit out of place here I think, it's a Holden Terano from Oz, my nephew out there had one similar.

Thanks for that Gibbo, you've actually identified it better than I had.

I'd been barking up the Holden Kingswood route, HQ or HZ series; but no actually it is a Holden Torana. I was a bit surprised to enter the reg on the DVLA site and realise that its got a whopping 4146cc under the bonnet; what a little sleeper it is !

Date of First Registration really ought to read "First UK Registration"

Shades of Vauxhall FE Victor to me, from some angles.

Very similar Holden Torana found online.

There' s enough clues to get it but hopefully its not too obvious

Not sure if Malcolm will come up with the goods on this one, my money is on another forum member of substantial standing...

Back in 2014 I started this thread off with another Australian curiosity. At that time Addo from Oz was a regular contributor to the form, and came up with the goods.

Fair to say I'd've never worked that one out without going back to Page 1.

My immediate reaction was it must be the 6-pot econo. model but while there was a V8, a 4-pot was available throughout.

I'm struggling to see the HB Viva it was based on - never mind a Transcontinental!

Oh, & I think Swansea have changed the rules about 1st registration (again!) - my Xantia's is (I think) when the current reg. was allocated, even though the original number is mentioned on the V5C.
