Could well be!
Wiki is occasionally very good with its references, dug this one out to help. On the relaunched Top Gear (ie May Clarkson and Hammond) Series 2 Episode 9 aired first on 13th July 2003 one of the presenters described the car thus
Fun but a high price tag which condemned it to its commercial demise and into the world of the enthusiasts!

Its good fun going round corners."I have to say, absolute hand on heart, I’ve never had so much fun in a car, really and truthfully, and I don’t think I’d ever tire of it."

Re: Whatsthisthen?.new one to try
Can you get this one from an interior shot? The exterior is a bit distinctive and would probably make it too easy. Suffice to say an interesting lot expected to fetch £8,000 to £12,000 at a forthcoming auction.

Re: Whatsthisthen?.new one to try
The first picture had me totally flummoxed, but the engine shot certainly narrows the field.
I think it is a 1940s Tatra, but I don't know which model.

Re: Whatsthisthen?.new one to try
In my paddling around the world of Tatra's came across this rather nice image of a later Tatra 603. I would have one of those on my drive too!

Re: Whatsthisthen?.new one to try
Here is the toughest challenge yet
Up-front I will say that I don't know what it is, and I don't think that there is enough information to identify it
I saw it in the metal, and came to the conclusion that it probably is just a single car, but there were a couple of components which convinced me that it is a model I have never seen before.
But let's see what can be determined...

Any indication as to what part of the world it hails from ?
The only bits I can work out so far is that its got independent front suspension and leaf spring rear. I suppose it could be the other way 'round, but that would make it a bit odd

Re: Whatsthisthen?.new one to try
In this shot, you can see a bevel gear on the end of a shaft. It is too small to be part of the drive train, so what could it be? Maybe a drive of a camshaft? That shot is obviously the front of the car, with the grille and front of the bonnet.
I am pretty sure that the vehicle is not British

Re: Whatsthisthen?.new one to try
The bevel gear could, just about, be a planet pinion gear from a rear diff, but it does look a little weedy for that.
The flattish panel embossed onto the grille has a rudimentary hinge built in. Could be a bonnet hinge or could be a fresh air flap - either for increased engine cooling or cabin ventilation.

You can see a propshaft UJ yoke near the top of this picture - so it's RWD.
I think we're missing the obvious as well - we need to look for a car with a damned great silver handle built into its roof
