Back in those days we used to laugh at them and saw them as a joke - a bit like Soviet-era Skodas...

Had a top of the line Optima as a demo a few months back, absolutely lovely car to be in. Unlike the Germans the leather was actually soft, the seat bases had padding, and it had suspension with springs in rather than girders. If I was looking for something in that segment I'd not be looking any further.

Any ideas what the name. rank and serial number of this little lot is? Personally I have no idea.

Top one is a 2S3 Akatsiya 152 mm SPG

the other is a Gvozdika 122mm SPG

Top identifying there Alasdair. My friend thought the bit of hardware his bike was leaning against may have been one of these

And a few years ago I was lucky enough to be allowed on a former East German bombing range to go and see this that was left behind by the former occupants. It's a Mig - but I can't remmeber which one. Any ideas ?

Yes is a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19P I do believe, or according to wiki, AKA "Farmer B" to NATO.

What's (at least part of) this based on though ?

that would have to be a dig around (or maybe even dig it up!) and look it up job

I'm no expert but the tail architecture would suggest a MiG 15 or 17. From the MiG 19 and its variants the tail arrangement was different.

Looks like another has been used for the upper superstructure - facing the opposite way so the back window is the windscreen for the baoty thing...

Yes you were right with the brookes saddle of course! and that bike made its way from the Ukraine to the UK!

Neil, I'm sorry, I can't.. Except that it's a Raleigh...

And that it's a tourer... I don't have any great knowledge of those kinds of bikes; my sort of bikes are light carbon roadies and that's surely not one of those!
