Just to clear things up, it didn't start! :-(

One thing however, it has gone into economy mode, no windows, no electrics, just the bare minimum, I have tried the reset but to no avail, I haven't used Lexia yet but is there a sequence I can follow with Lexia to reset the BSI?

Many thanks again!

OK, so now after a good long hard day of grafting I have finally come to the following conclusion, we are going on holiday in our scenic!

I have spent all day finding and fixing the leak which was coming from the thermostat housing, new gasket and plenty (in moderation) of black sealant and the leak was eliminated ... after a good few hours may I add.

The BSI does not want to play game, instead it has several permanent faults along with the ECU, I cannot clear them and communication has been more than difficult due to the ECU not wanting to liaise with my Lexia.

No reply from the Injection System ECU, on trying to start, even with a bit of easy start (I know it's not good but for testing purposes ...), nothing! Nada!
No reply from the Sunroof ECU
No reply from the Windows ECU
No reply from the Display ECU
No reply from the Airbag ECU
No reply from the Telematics ECU

And the list goes on ...

I did manage to clear a lot of the faults and they stayed away after a full re-diagnosis but still no joy after 2 hours and a lot of patience!

So, my question is this, would I have to buy the whole lock kit to go with the BSI and ECU or will I be able to carry on with my existing keys? I have seen that the transponder in the key has to match the code in the BSI, is this true? if so, can I match up my current key fobs with the new BSI and ECU so I don't have immobilizer issues?

Thank again guys, you have been a fabulous help and I hope me sharing this experience helps someone else one day!

It may not be talking to the other ECUs as it is in ecomonmy mode. The problem lies in the fact that there is no comms with the injection ECU - that is probably why the engine won't start... As to why it can't talk it....

Hence why I need a new ECU, or is the injection ECU a separate module all together? If so, where is it located?

Injection ECU is separate. service.citroen is not clear on where it is, but it's usually under the bonnet, and it shows as being under a sloping plastic cover, and towards the LH side of the engine bay, so I would assume it to be under the cover that's there. So first check is it still there, and is it connected! Does the immobiliser light go out at key on? Have you got all the harnesses connected from the engine to the car loom?

Hi,

I will have to check if the ECU is still there, where is the immobilizer light and yes, all connected up as I made sure there were no missing or loose connections before trying to start the car.

One thing though, what am I looking for? what does it look like? anyone?

Thanks

Looks a bit like this: Siemens ECU It should have 3 plugs on the top of it, about 8" or so square and maybe 1-2" thick.

Not sure about the immobiliser light - a key symbol somewhere on the dash?

was there a double sized/length brown relay in with that ECU, if so it might be worth checking that is ok first,

i had to look at a 207 all be it petrol a couple of years ago,

this car would not talk/communicate with my DIS-LEXIA
then i discovered the brown ECU protection relay had a chunk of its case missing, which allowed it to fill with rain water,

as soon as the relay was replaced everything fired up

Hi Citronut

I have checked it all thoroughly as I read, before even starting this project, that water ingress was a no no and causes all sorts of electrical problems!

Thanks

OK, finally got back from Holiday!!! Yey! NOT!

I have come to a standstill as I now have to look after my baby girl for the best part of the next 2 weeks and I need this thing running!!!!

So, my first port of call, I had a chat with a mate of mine and he has proposed I bleed the diesel through by cracking off the pipes to the injectors, I filled the fuel filter but I haven't bled the system, so he says.

I shall give that a bash and see what happens as I have taken the ECU and BSI out and not found anything physically wrong with it!

Thanks all for your efforts and once I get round to actually starting this beast I will let you know the full outcome and process of elimination!

Cheers!

Hi Citronut!

No harm in pleasing simple minds sometimes, even when they are wrong! :-)

Will update accordingly!
