I didn't test it for excessive leakage... Had it of, took it apart and stretched the spring a little bit...

Easy enough to test the leakage in place, at least for the front one. Hope you didn't stretch the spring too much, the balance between the small and large spring is fairly critical...stretching the small spring too much can cause problems. (Found this the hard way)

Well you could test the "activa" electrovalve with Lexia, but I don't even know where it's located... :oops:

Does an Activa ECU have an actuator test mode ? Because Hydractive 2 doesn't - it's read only information on a Lexia.

The Activa electrovalve is on the control block that the Activa balancing sphere is screwed into - which connects between the front and rear Activa rams. Where it is physically I haven't a clue. :lol:

If it is on the balancing sphere control block it is in one of two locations; either under the battery tray (the more logical option) or at the rear centre area (around the spare wheel).

I don't think its the one under the battery - doesn't that one have a pipe going into it like an anti-sink sphere ? (It's used as an additional accumulator sphere to supply the instantaneous pressure demands of the Activa system)

In that case it must be the extra sphere under the rear. The balancing sphere has a control block and electrovalve more or less the same as a hydractive control block - it's purpose is to switch the sphere in to circuit to make the anti-roll bars "soft" during cruising and switch the sphere out to stiffen the anti-roll bars during cornering.

Looking at the following picture, it would seem that the Activa sphere does screw into a control block of some sort;

Yep that's it - the one that says SC-CAR AR, as its the only one not present on Hydractive 2.

It's definitely a control block with an electrovalve that works the same way as the normal Hydractive 2 ones, but I'm not sure if it is exactly interchangeable or not - for example the normal ones have two damper valves inside them, I'm not sure if there is any need for a damper valve in a control block that lets oil flow between the front and rear anti-roll bars... or if there are dampers they're most likely calibrated differently. So functionally very similar but probably not directly interchangeable.

Hell Razor5543 wrote:I know that the info I posted appears to be incorrect, but that is also why I posted the manual version number (and, by the fact it begins X2 suggests it could be for a series 2 Xantia) The last page shows a print date 04/2000. Page 118, F3, 10A, under dashboard.
Well I have checked Haynes and it says also F3 fuse under dashboard for hydractive suspension. So there are two. F3 under dashboard and F8 in the engine compartment...
