The area that my hose is suffering is where it goes to the back of the engine - due to oil etc it feels soft just past the bend so would like to replace it before any major issues. Have already replaced the two rubber "bungs" that sit over the ends of the two pipes in same area that go nowhere did one last year and just did one today while car was in getting oil & filter done + 4 new spheres. Despite the issues back in January with diesel pump she has now done another 11,000 miles since then and currently is at 202500 miles 8-)

Will be interested to hear how you get on. Yes I still have the car - it's not made it back onto the road yet unfortunately!

So I phoned my parts supplier here in Dublin and asked to check part number 1343.Z0 and happy days they can have the hose for me tomorrow 8-) 8-) Now the connection to the engine does not seem to be a problem for my mechanic so its to see if the fittings to rad and expansion tank are good. So wurlycorner can you confirm that you had no problem with these front connections?

Size wise? No problems, no.
However, the bottom bayonett fitting at the rad is notorious for corroding and being impossible to remove from the rad after all this time, without breaking the plastic on the rad...

Rad was replaced couple of years ago so hopefully it should not present a problem - my mechanic seemed to think there should be no problem :)

So the lower rad hose went on the car last friday and it fitted perfectly with no modifications. For anyone with similar issues mine is a 1998 series 2 90hp 1.9TD. The part number quoted originally on microfiche showed 1343W9 which is listed as out of stock everywhere and the main dealer here did not have replacement part listed. However with help here on forum 1343.Z0 came up as an option with possible mods. The part was obtained in less than 48 hours and is still available. So 1343.Z0 is the one you will need.

In my case the old hose fractured on Thursday night after being stuck in heavy traffic for an hour with long periods of no movement. I knew it was soft from last weeks service but had not expected it to burst so quick - anyway back to normal running. 8-)
