Have checked and the rod thingy isn't an air filter support. That is present, shorter and thicker.

that rod certainly looks like all the dershy ( 2CV ) air filter rear end supports i have come across,
and the Dyane with the same plastic type air filter box sits exactly the same way/place as the dershy,

you are aware the filter has the pressed tin arch shaped bracket at the forwared end, then also this rod going between the N/S rear under cornner end of the air box to a stud on top of the gear box?????

Bonnet rod now sorted. Obvious really. Wrong hole. Silly me.

Other bits - I'd like to be able to fit them if possible, so any contributions of advice are welcome.

NO! look at it, have you ever seen anything "Citroen" and "exhaust" that wasnt just a pile of brown cornflake :D
its one of those "I know ive seen it" but which is making my brain itch i had one recently and threw it that "half hole" end is definitley citroen.

could be to do with handbrake cables or battery stool wiring bracket - somrthing like that its defo Aca/Dyane specific and not general A series

Ill cheat and put pic up on 2cv gb (and ask ken hanna)

have you had the doors off? Someone suggested they are the coverplates for the check straps for the front doors fitted to A pillar end . "Keza" in Slovenia makes new panels for Dyanes and Vans and rebulds the things on a daily basis.

Have I had the doors off? Have a look at my other port "Hello from a Citroen Acadiane driver". Fairly much everything has been off. Only have a check strap on one side, but there may be a plate on the other side. The van works fine without these bits, but it would be nice to put them back where they belong.

Thanks again everyone for the advice so far.

Wonder if that applies to French CT @ Olduns. Noticed one of your locations. The CT seems a bit less strict than in the UK. Am sure there's something around here that I can use as a checkstrap, if only to avoid needing to repair the door the next time someone opens it on a windy day.

replace or substitute the straps otherwise the doors go too far and you end up with a nasty kink in the swage line and brightwork.

as for CT it seems all they worry about is well ...erm the chassis numbers being stamped and wheter or not the car pulls to one side

Two prizes for Sean. Wing stay and check strap metal thingy.

There's probably something lying around here (old belt etc) that could be turned into a checkstrap.

Did anyone see the before / after pics?

MOT/CT next week. Fingers crossed. At least it doesn't have funny suspension. Well actually it does (fairly horizontal) but not oleopneumatic.

I'll have that 'pleasure' in the next year, 18 months hopefully, if i get it back from mates Garage :)
plan is to run it over here for a while then re-import back to it's homeland for B-in L to use daily whilst we're here and for us to use on our visits to our place.
Bonus is it will be kept at secure address and will rust whilst being used rather than standing around :-D

not to sure how CT stands against our MOT?
looking at some cars on the road, a lot, ermmmm, easier to pass?
B-in L's Maserati 4300 when he took it with a Dutch friend who's lived there for years, is a mechanic, 'friends' with the CT tester had to return car for re-test because first time they couldn't find the OBD port so they could plug in and check the car's spec

Ohhhh...also because he hadn't got all 4 valve covers on wheels :-D
