LOL.. Phew, that was a well used one that one!

TRY: if your black cover is still off your lever, see while the car is in neutral if theres any play at the release lever, you should be able to move it EVER SO slightly..

Also, are you certain the Pin in the arm is central, and not fowling around the back preventing full release of the clutch release arm...?

Is all back together, the pin should be okay as I had it out to tap the spring onto the end of it! Will have a play with the lever and see if is any play in it in a mo,

Yeah that clutchj was well used ;-)

Well that would imply then that the Clutch Cable is NOT holding the Arm that would hold the clutch plate off the friction plate..

Must be oil on it or something to cause it to slip.. :(

Okay, so the cable is okay then?
So, if its down to a bit of oil on it, would the idea of pouring in some Isopropyl alcohol through the Vent hole up top (the one covered by tape normally) whilst the cars off the ground in gear to attempt to clean it?? - without having to remove the box and take it all apart to clean it up?

Okay, no worries thanks for the help though, I may still go for the cable as is a bit more done, if it still slips post that then i'll know its more down to grease/dirt during fitting, ;-)

Its funny you know, HDi 110 Clutchs on S2 cars, which are hydraulic operated will have a day of slippage, and will slip well, then after they settle down and dont slip again! I assume its down to Clutch Dust getting between the plate and friction.

Not had this on a TD xantia though...

Did you say you did the Input Shaft Seal on the box.. Could this of failed? Me again, if theres no sign of it leaking when I do a clutch, I leave it, and dont bother with them..

That Sachs is toast!...and if it's Sachs, then it's at least had one clutch replacement done before. Is it possible the flywheel is causing an issue? Glad to hear it can't be fitted the wrong way around. What about getting some Gunk spray in there, washing it out, then giving it a couple of drag racer style standing starts?

Yup did the input shaft seal and clutch fork bushes whilst it was off, I know the if it aint broke don't fix it theory but also how Sods law works! ;-)

Eviladdy, the flywheel was one of my early thoughts, but trying to sort through the non box off possibles first! :-D the gunk idea I was contemplating with the isopropyl alcohol, if none of it works after some spirited driving then will cope with it till such a point I need to take the box off! ;-)

Just a note on the cable, as long as it is fitted at the pedal end... the bellows-boot will push back-compress; without the need to open the box. This exposes enough cable to be dropped back in the arm and bracket. When it is all in place is when the rachet kicks in.. or it did in my case

I tried this on another cable off the car too. Push the nipple from the pedal end down the cable, then compress (slide it towards )the cable outer at the boot side of the adjuster hold it in place with cable ties, strong tape ETC and the cable moves freely again. I did this easier on the car.
