Thanks for replying Nigel, problem was there when I bought the car back in September last year, had new handbrake cables fitted, new discs pads had all the moving parts checked thoroughly by local trusted Citroen specialist in my home town known him for nearly ten years and have always used him. Brakes work a dream no sticking can roll with ease on flat ground. Always carry passengers since I bought this since new parts it always has 3 kids in the back 20 kgs I suppose and myself in front 13.5 stoners (Not gonna tell the muscle to fat ratio) Oops I had my aircon recharged and tested for any leaks all was well after recharge. its not the best artic breeze but it's cold.

Will print your advice and mention to mechanic see if he can check if he already hasn't. Suspension is now working a dream plenty of Valvoline white grease.

Air con should be 7 degrees C below current outside temperature if the air con is working efficiently. close all vents except the two middle dash vents and insert a thermometer into vents air con running give it three minutes and check the temperature.
good luck.
regards.
Nigel.

Should I use the internal reading on the display for the outside temperature and then use a digital thermometer or will any do. Also should I be using it every so often hot and cold to keep it working or does it not matter.

Thanks Nigel

Are you sure about that Nigel? My digital temp gauge shows 10c even when it's 40c outside. Goes down to 5c when it's 26c. If the air con could only lower the temp by 7 degrees it'd be useless. Goes up to 65c when the heater is on!

Yes. 7c would be crap. Used to be 40+ in Greece in the car in summer. Not be any use if it only cooled to 33c.

Just realised I can hear a slight whining noise not all the time when I turn the heating control on from lowest or highest setting highest setting, when I switch it off 2 seconds later the whining stops. Is this a heating blower fault or something else and is there a quick/permanent fix.

Thanks

What temp should I be looking at with all vents closed and using the middle vents for a reading or should I stick a tray of ice cubes in front of vents and see if they hold up.

Cheers

oh well didn't think of the mechanics of it and if only in the UK 7 degrees C would make it pretty cold in the car as temps here rarely reach above 20 degrees C. perhaps the man charging the air con said 17 Degrees C even then that would seem to be pretty high. I probably miss heard him. Strangely enough I have taken to recharging the air-con myself as the price of getting it done has hit the £60.00 mark around here. The cans with a pressure gauge are about 10 quid and top up two or three cars.

Nigel, perhaps you are thinking of Kw..Fi..

They say that after they have regassed a system then if the temperature isn't at least 8°C lower than before regassing then they don't charge for the work.

No one at Kwiky mentioned that to me, all they said was there were no leaks detected and it was in need of a recharge (just read their spiel on website) will go into another branch get their verdict and then to the one where it was recharged and see if they give a different story.

Xanti's booked in tomorrow morning to get the tracking sorted and the whooshing noise on acceleration (possibly crankshaft pulley/tensioner/belt or alternator fault)
that will be all faults/problems repaired for now.

Last year, when I had Gracies' aircon re-gassed (at Formula One Autocenters), I got a printout showing the gas levels. When they started, she had less than 400 (whatevers) in the system, afterwards it was over 800, and there was a huge difference in temperature.

Should expect around 700+ (whatevers) in the system when they check then.

It wasn't KwiK fit it was a Citroen independent that had bought his own machine he ran a misty antibacterial solution through the air vents after recharging the air-con. maybe it was so long ago I've forgotten what he said never mind its not the end of the world you know. as I said 7 degrees C below outside temps is probably pretty good in the UK, just glad I don't live in Greece that's all.
