Mike, I would love it, but I don't have the space or wherewithal for it.

However, if a second set of eyes could help get those brakes working let me know.

its probably those stupid cone shaped retaining springs not seated properly Mike,

they can try anyone's patience,

what i do is have the eyelet blade thingy vertical and the hook end of the spring, put a blade of a flat bladed screw driver through the open/outer end of the spring, and with the blade horizontal so it can push and tilt the hook end of the spring,

now with the other hand rotate the base at the back/outside of the back plate of the eyelet till the eye goes over the hook,

hope this helps,

I gave up on it Malcolm. I decided I don't understand this weird old technology and it's now sat on the drive and I sometimes stare angrily at it.

Drum brakes are the work of the devil Mike..

Stop looking angrily at it. have a few days off and then walk up to it with purpose and show it just who's boss and the request with some authority that it gets its act together and starts behaving otherwise you'll set CitroJim onto it...

Seriously, if it's still peeing you off in early June, I may be able to offer you a day...

Careful Davie, the happy meal might just swing it for Mike but only if it still has the toy in it...

Not to put you off, Davie, but I think your son will then say something like "As you wouldn't get me a quad bike I'll use this instead", especially if you get the race tuned engine fitted!

It will definitely still be peeing me off by then Jim, it's the devil's own vehicle! I have gone as far as getting a gunsons' ezibleed thing to bleed the brakes for the next attempt.

I think some of the pingfuckit springs that Malcolm mentions are *old* and may have shortened. I'm not 100% sure.

It's actually the only vehicle I've driven for 22 hours without a break, and you know what, not a single ache or pain after that.

And THAT is a very good reason to keep it!
