Re: Berlingo battles and DRKpers
I guess it's why Pirelli tyres are colloquially known in some quarters as 'Ditchfinders'
Re: Berlingo battles and DRKpers
Well, the Berlingo is back down with Citronut Malcolm for a few more days R&R. There seems to be yet another rattly clonk issue from the front right, and the original clonk on the left, which disappeared for a while, came back occasionally. Of course, after I spoke to Malcolm about it, and arranged to run it down, it didn't make the noise at all. I even rang him on my way down on Wednesday to see if I should just leave it for a while, but being the nice chap he is, he almost insisted I take it back - there was nothing loose or missing on the car, it just rattled a bit. Anyway, I drove it down there, it didn't rattle, we took it down a very rough unmade road, and it didn't rattle at all. Got it to clonk once by throwing it into a roundabout, but then only mildly. Bloody thing! It's still there so he can check it out again and stick a set of front pads in it, and I shall have to make my way down to St. Leonard's on sea for the 4th time to collect it, hopefully Wednesday or Thursday next week. It's not Malcolm or St. Leonard's that's the problem, or even the distance - it's just the A21, what a pain of a road!
It drove really well over the 1300 miles or so it did in the week before, so we are definitely getting somewhere. Round the bend is one destination...

I'm glad it's not just me who hates the A21 Mike!
Seriously, the 'Lingo is being very difficult at the moment isn't she... Typical French
Hope all is soon sorted for good. I'm sure Sir Malcolm will....

The A21 would be a lovely road if it weren't for other people on it Jim...CitroJim wrote:I'm glad it's not just me who hates the A21 Mike!

Re: Berlingo battles and DRKpers
It's actually the worst one I've come across Steve, for the simple reason that apart from the dual-carriageway parts, there's absolutely nowhere to overtake slower traffic. You can be stuck behind Mrs.Miggins in her Honda Jazz doing 25mph in a 60 zone for miles, even in a reasonably fast car like the V6 Xantia.myglaren wrote:Applies to the majority of the roads on this sceptred isle Mike.northern_mike wrote:The A21 would be a lovely road if it weren't for other people on it Jim...CitroJim wrote:I'm glad it's not just me who hates the A21 Mike!

Yes, that really is the big problem with the A21 Mike

Re: Berlingo battles and DRKpers
Well I imagine one way or another I'll have to make my way down it again this week on Thurs or Fri. Not sure how yet! ICitroJim wrote:Yes, that really is the big problem with the A21 Mike

Re: Berlingo battles and DRKpers
Thanks James. Might be Monday or Tuesday as Citronut is very busy. If you fancy an adventure we can go in the DRK and you can drive Bertie back (or the DRK!)

Re: Berlingo battles and DRKpers
Sounds OK to me. Just depends on the weather!
Re: Berlingo battles and DRKpers
It's got the roof on... The only issue is that as a passenger, if it's raining... you can't see anything as there's no wiper on that side..

A drive in the DRK is an offer not to be refused Mike

Re: Berlingo battles and DRKpers
As you've seen Jim, if it's cold and I use the roof down, I wear a full-face helmet with my earphones in, and it's remarkably serene.
