Hold the end of the broomstick handle against different parts of the engine, to identify the source of the noise (I don't find it's always 100% successful). I've even tried using a hammer, with the metal end applied to ear. The hammer is then to hand if you find what needs fixing
The reference to Xantia may refer back to my comment that maybe the number of Xantia posts is now being being overtaken by posts about C5s.
